    Aww man! I just spent $7 for the Modern Worlds book, which is chapter 4 in this one, which costs $10! Is there any way I can work out a discount or something for buying the full book? It’s a $20 book. There’s a $10 discount on it right now for exactly that reason! Won’t be there for long though!

    Huh... when I asked about maximum dice pools a few weeks ago, I was under the impression that the maximum was always the maximum, even including luck and other exploits that granted bonus dice. I've certainly never said that. At least I hope I haven't, because it's wrong! :) Is the Dice pool cap only intended to limit Attributes+Skills, and exploits etc. can stack on top of that? Yup.

    So, if I understand right, there's little point the aforementioned sniper-type character to have invested additional ranks in rifles beyond what puts them to 5d6, barring complications that reduce their dice total. Is that correct? It's not immediately useful, but remember when you gain a Grade your maximum dice pool goes up by 1 but your attributes and skills only go up a maximum of 1. Starting with a higher pool 'in the bank' means you can immediately take advantage of the higher grade. So if your group is going to run a long campaign, it won't be wasted. Having said all that, I don't think I've ever put together a character like that, because IMO skill and stat points are too precious to go much 'over' what's useful and I don't like to play one trick wonders.     Really loving the books I just got in the Bundle of Holding! I just have two questions: In the Modern Core book, page 28, it states that "Humans gain a +1 to any die roll made to shake off a condition". However, in the Action Careers Supplement, Page 10, it says nothing about this in any exploits. Is it supposed to be listed there? Yes that’s a standard human exploit in all three games. Where do I go to discuss/talk with others about Modern Core stuff? The official website doesn't seem to have dedicated forums for this, since most of it appears to talk about O.L.D. and N.E.W. Is Modern Core not as big of a system for your guys? There’s just one the one official WOIN forum and you’re already here! :) Modern was only released about two weeks ago. It’s pretty new!

    Howdy all, I'm pretty much a perma-DM, and my group is always asking for other character options besides those in the book. Since I'm not trying to run AL-legal games in any sense, and since my players tend to be more mature than most, I see no reason why I wouldn't provide them with more options, with the known caveat that we'll discuss player classes after sessions, and adapt their power level if needed. So, fellow forumites, which homebrew/UA classes, subclasses, races, etc. have you encountered that you'd allow at your table? Note: I already allow the UA revised ranger (with a slight tweak on the natural explorer feature), so don't worry about that :) I consider pretty much everything published, including 3rd party and enthusiast internet stuff, you name it. The stuff I/we like gets incorporated into our rules, sometimes modified.

    Personally, I think that this detail is important less for accuracy to modern tropes, and more to inspire fear into players who know those tropes. That moment when players point out that he's standing there in the "sunlight", in the middle of the day, gives way to one of those nefarious DM smiles, and the classic, "Oh, I know! Isn't it great?". The other reason that I feel this is important, is because Strahd should be ever-present in the players' minds, and that he should show up from time to time to taunt the players as necessary. He's supposed to pop up when he's least expected, right when it most terrifies or otherwise impacts the players. A patron in the toymaker's shop, a coy finger-wave from outside the inn, a sudden appearance and compliment on the spell cast by a player in combat, a comment to the players after they meet a madman that his man is his (Strahd's) finest work, or a sit-down dinner with the abbot, followed by an early-evening stroll around the grounds - any of these kind...

After all, other classes don't use spellbooks, so where would you find a written copy of Raise Dead for example?I'll return to the rest of the thread sometime tomorrow, but to address this point: the samw place as a player who takes Ritual Caster currently does. In world, presumably someone's noted down how a ritual is performed. By it's very nature Rituals should be easily recordable. If need be I'll expand it to allow you to add rituals you can cast that you've seen performed too.

    Casting rituals is no longer a strenuous activity for you - You may now cast rituals at will while you take a short of long rest. I think this is a good idea. Either for level 6 or 10.
