Move: back to the door Action: scorching ray - start shooting immediately only if it will pass through the container pane (rolls in OOC) Alternative: would Thunderwave hurt it and maybe break the container? Or it would hit the container with no harm to the creature? If this will not help then simply ready scorching ray for the time someone breaks the container Rolls

Probably not in a Dredd campaign. Magic fits in with a bunch of other worlds of 2000ad but Dredd is more sci-fi. Maybe if they were psionic artifacts instead?

Liminal is a new RPG by Paul Mitchener, just launched by Modiphius. It deals with "the boundary between the modern day United Kingdom and the Hidden World- the world of secret societies of magicians, a police division investigating Fortean crimes, fae courts, werewolf gangs, and haunted places where the walls between worlds are thin." UPDATE: The core book appears to have already sold out. ...

TBBT is a sitcom. Sitcoms are generally the same, just the characters change. There have been sitcoms featuring wartime medics, upper class toffs, pretty people in New York, and everything in between. The characters are always the butt of the joke. This time it was scientists. The fact that geeks finding scientists in the same mainstream sitcoms as everybody else gets them upset kinda...

No, that’s the opposite of what I just said. :) It literally just does what it says in that paragraph — to benefit from higher quality equipment, you need an appropriate skill. You can’t benefit from an exceptional quality pistol without enough ranks in pistols. Same with armour.

See Burst attacks on page 99. Area attacks use a single attack roll (in this case AGI (throwing) or similar) vs VITAL DEFENSE of all targets, and a single damage roll. Otherwise it is resolved just like any other attack roll.

I suppose your point is that the Healer Feat can do it once to every party member, though a Healer Kit only has so many uses. I guess it isn't that expensive, but still. A Party of Five can only use it for two days before it's used up. Cure Wounds can be cast as long as there are...

Which means a feathery guy randomly shows up claiming, quite persuasively, that he’s a friend and wants to help, but before they can respond a crazy cat thing runs in and starts attacking people with fire and ice. See, that’s how I differentiate Clerics from Warlocks. For me, Warlocks LEARN their magic. If the Patron decides to leave the Warlock for some reason, the Warlock keeps what they’ve earned. They just have to serve the Patron to get better. But for me, Clerics have no real power at all. It’s not actually them doing it. It’s the god channeling their power through the Cleric. And because it's a save, and not an attack roll, even for those who save, they still take half damage, so some damage is done every turn. You also don’t count on hitting your opponent every round, we’re looking at max potential. If you only have 1 enemy, then the flamethrower isn’t the best use of your turret. But if you have 2, the damage equals the ballista, just spread out, and if there are more than 2, then you are doing more damage than the ballista can, up to 6 enemies per ballista.

The Swedish 1990's-set sequel to Tales From The Loop is now available from Modiphius. Based on the paintings of Simon Stålenhag which portray a "retro futuristic suburbia", Things from the Flood takes the 1980s kids and makes them 1990s teens. Somewhere out there beyond the cordons, beyond the fields and marshes, abandoned machines roamed like stray dogs. They wandered about...

Sure. Give me a day to get to know her. If it becomes permanent, I might ask for few changes with your permission - same character concept and everything but maybe spell or feat selection - but there is time for that. Thanks

The flamethrower is a 15 ft cube, which can catch 6 people, per turret. So it’s 1d8x12, potentially, or 2d8x6 if you hit six people twice.

And a lvl 17 Artilarist is dealing 4d10+5 Firebolt damage with a +13 to hit, plus either 4d8 Balista with the ability to push, or up to 12d8 fire spread out amongst up to 12 enemies, or healing the party 2d8+10 health every round, or any combination of those, all as a bonus action that the Rogue is using for either his second attack or to disengage and run away. I don't know, being able to inflict 1d8 damage to everything in a 15 ft cone, which is up to 6 creatures, is pretty devastating. Add two of them in the right spot and you're doing 4d8+Int Mod (cantrip) to one creature, and 2d8 or half to up to six creatures. So it's a choice between concentrated fire on one creature (doing an extra 4d8 with two balistas) or spread damage to lots of creatures...

I disagree, especially when considering ability scores. The Battle Smith is very obviously SAD, as everything is keyed off INT, both spells and combat damage. That gives it a very, very good incentive to take the Repeating Shot and use a Heavy Crossbow or a pair of Hand Crossbows, so you can fight as well as anyone and only use one ability. Pump Con next because of saving proficiency, and then...

Titus, as a wolf, races to the goblins. As a wolf, Titus has a 40 ft speed, but I don't think that's enough to make it to the nearest goblin. If not, Dodge action. If he can, Bite with Advantage due to Pack Tactics: or with a DC 11 Strength Save or be knocked prone.

Bandit 1: Bandit 2: Bandit 3: Ok, two of them are charmed. They can't attack you and you have advantage on checks to interact with them. So what do you do? Because that third one is probably about to shoot you in the face with a crossbow.

... case, if not for a mysterious ally, one that called for a late-night meeting, not far from the cottages that served the travelers. "Meet me at the shack by the Crow Tree", said the message. Even for a foreigner, the meeting place was an easy finding. The Crow Tree had been, in ages past, the cruel fate of many a criminal. Many were hung from the branches of the crooked, massive thing. Because of it, the place became ideal for secret gatherings. Most people avoided the area, considering it to be haunted. [You may engage in all sorts of activities during the day, meet NPCs, make plans, and so on. If you choose to go to the meeting by night, just describe your arrival; all PCs are invited. If you choose to do something else, just describe it as well. :) Welcome back, everyone, and sorry for the delay. Work, sickness and trouble stirred life a bit, and this thread is particularly filled with details. This is why kept it silent as I walked through the worst of the troubles.] Fenris Queenie tglassy Neurotic

Thanks Queenie -- still waiting on what the crew might think would be more helpful as a doctor Cleric (Tempest) or Cleric (Life) -- I like the Tempest idea a bit more but could just as easily go with Life -- but what is MOST important to me is what everyone feels would be the MOST helpful overall -- a somewhat battle oriented cleric or a mostly just healer oriented cleric

Great thanks Queenie, you can sign me up for ships Doctor (assuming there is still a slot) as that fit what I was considering on playing. Where are the character creation rules located? I am sure I could eventually find them but I am guessing one of you could point me to it much faster. Also how quickly do you need this character posted by I can have it done today if it is needed that fast. Otherwise a Cleric (Tempest) seems appropriate for the setting although if the group would rather see of Cleric (Life) I can do that as well. Kind of depends on how focused of a healer you would like to have and the overall personality of the character you would all like to see. Note I am really good at crafting characters to fit the bill and equally good at roleplaying whatever has been crafted so please do not be overly concerned about me playing my thing -- as what I want to play is what will help the group the most and that will help augment the group and story the most. So any criterion for that will help me...

OK Queenie, I'm totally into creative spell uses! It sounds like you're trying to use detect thoughts (2nd level that requires you to see the creature when casting spell) like locate creature (4th level that does NOT require line of sight), am I understanding you right? So, I'm thinking two things: 1) we need to come up with a way that what you're doing with detect thoughts is *less powerful* than what locate creature does 2) we need to come up with something *extra* you'll expend besides the spell slot (e.g. Sorcery Points, extra spell slots) Locate Creature 4th-level divination Casting Time: 1 action Range: Self Components: V, S, M (a bit of fur from a bloodhound) Duration: Concentration, up to 1 hour Describe or name a creature that is familiar to you. From the north comes the huffing growling sound of the hooded brute, who must be lumbering toward the stone circle, but abruptly it stops…perhaps confounded by the mists. The old witch moves into the innermost circle, where she has 1/2 cover (+2 AC and Dex saves). She then casts a boosted fog cloud which heavily obscures EVERYTHING on the map. The spell lasts for 1 hour, till her Concentration is broken, she voluntarily ends spell, or a wind of moderate or greater speed (at least 10 miles per hour) disperses it. ... setting is the creation of Andrzej Sapkowsi and given further life in the Witcher video games by CD Projekt RED. Perhaps the most defining feature of the setting is how many of the stories subvert traditional fairy tales in darkly humorous ways. It is also a mature setting dealing with moral dilemmas, sex, drugs, violence, oppression, and other grey areas. In the continuity of the video games, this game will occur after the events of Witcher III: Wild Hunt. Hm! Well, Talashia's kind of envisioned as an elementalist...fairy tale magic might not work super great for her. :) But I do like the concept of what you're talking about...particularly the idea of names and unique critters. Yeah, the fairy tale magic is probably a better fit for Queenie's Elora than for Talashia. Might be a fun way to differentiate your two sorceresses... I think most of it I can do behind the DM's screen, so to speak, as long as we're all bought into the setting & its motifs. Another thing I've been following is Mike Pondsmith's blog for the upcoming Witcher tabletop RPG from R. Talsorian Games. I like the differentiation of the races, especially in regards to the reactions they evoke in NPCs. The classes feel well-suited to the setting, and I especially like how effort seems to have gone into making seeming combatants relevant in a fight.

...juries. Hopefully we can get back on track! :) Again, my apologies for the delay. Btw, I've been reading more of the books for Beyond the Wall and there are lots of cool ideas there that *feel* right for the Witcher setting. Not that I want to change systems – I've already done a lot of work converting to 5e, and I have lots of good monster books for 5e now, but there is a lot about Beyond the Wall that fits the gritty setting assumptions of the Witcher. I'll try to pilfer some of the better ideas. If anyone would like to read more about it, feel free to PM me or pick up the books on DriveThru RPG. Several of the spells/cantrips/rituals, for example, *really* feel magical. Anyhow, maybe I can advance the scene to you guys ascending the hilltop toward the stone henge, trying to avoid the lumbering brute/ogre/troll? You have the cursed/transformed sorceress Margarita with you, so you could bring her along maybe? Let me know what you're planning Aramalian Azurewraith Fenris Queenie Shayuri ?

What an awesome story! So glad you had that little surprise. Thank you Queenie. It is funny how one historical fact can spin itself into a whole historical interlude. Once I came across the fact that a confederate doctor at the Battle of Wilson's Creek was named William Cantrell it was just a matter of figuring out how Lawrence Cantrell and James Parker would have been there as well.

Not wanting to stress out Bella, Katerina shrugs the monkey off her shoulder and lets her scurry into a nearby hiding position. "Doesh it make a difference what our ship is named?" Kat said sternly, trying to cover her own intoxication, and give off an air of Captaincy. "You said you'd sign if we helped. Now where are these monkeys you speak of? We don't have all night to play with little boys." She glanced around the area and tried to look and listen over the din of water and drunken pirates to anything out of the ordinary. Perception: 1D20+1 = [19]+1 = 20 Bella scampers off to watch from a palm tree a safe distance away. One of the smaller boys points toward a large canoe where there are scratching sounds coming from the well of shadows obscuring the interior. However, Katerina's intuition draws her eyes to the edge of the dock behind the boys where the jungle spills over to meet the coast. There, camouflaged on top of several stone pylons are three distinctive monkeys w...

And I totally missed where Scotley said he was waiting on Mel... I was like, who is that?? And why haven't I posted in so long?? :duh: So, I should probably admit, my mind has been a mess lately. As in mama brain... I'm 18 weeks pregnant and losing my mind lol. I'm so sorry. Life is always chaos here and this isn't helping. I put up my initiative (as you will see, my mind is so crazy I rolled a 73 lol) and since as usual I'm going last, I will just wait to see what happens. :D edit: To add to what Maidhc O Casain said, I would love to have more role play. That's what keeps me in a game and pure rolling kind of bores me in the end. SO I'm all for more role play and trying to keep OOG in spoilers. Congrats. I guess we'll let the mama brain issues slide in the interest of perpetuating the next generation of games. I have to agree with Maidhc, let's try to get more of the chatter in character. Or at least move it over to this thread. That's what it is for after all.

I have an extra character waiting in the wings should a spot open up later on. Is there anything I should be aware of in game that is not covered by the standard guidelines. Such as what language do you all speak, I kind of liked the Spanish character but if you all do not speak Spanish that might be difficult that is unless I can easily pick up whatever language is most common to the current group. Now this also seems kind of historical is this true or are the nationalities the only thing that was borrowed historically? I think Quickleaf is going rough some stuff right now. He’ll be back eventually :) Sent from my iPad using EN World mobile app Thanks for the update, Queenie. I was getting worried. You'll want to wait on Quickleaf to let you know about the slot. He's our DM. The character creation stuff is all in the initial post of this thread. Just scroll down until you see it. It's hidden by spoiler blocks. A lot of the info is also hosted in a group that QL made. You can check that out here. Depending on what QL says, there's lots of opportunities to bring you right into the action. My character, Blaise, and Etienne are in the middle of a possible jail break for some Spanish soldiers. You could make your character one of them or another guy in the prison that we haven't noticed yet. Kat, Zef, and our newest member, Jacques, are currently in the middle of a drunken recruitment drive that might make the simplest introduction. Nia has gone off on her own to investigate our rival, Captain Wallace and his crew, where she could find you possibly investigating for your own purposes. There's a lot of balls in play at the moment and this g...

OOC: does it look like they let "regular" people in, or is it guards only? Sent from my iPad using EN World mobile app They are heading towards the wall, they will first go into a section that anyone can go into. After a few minutes they will enter the far side of the wall, once they go in there it is guards only.

"Well, we do have an army," Lia laughed as she waved to the large amount of men behind them, "I'd likely be frightened too." She looked over the creature from head to toe. "So what are you doing out here, in enemy territory, alone? It's not safe." "Hah!" the creature makes some coughing sound and small burst of green gas escapes his mouth "I'm not afraid, human. The w'rst thee paladins wouldst doth is killeth me. Demons wouldst t'rture me and taketh mine own soul. Nay, i wast loath because we already hath asked f'r holp once and we w're rebuff'd" It bows to the group "Mine own nameth is Viridian, champion of the Claug Atar clan. I cameth to seeth if 't be true we can square the demons togeth'r. We knoweth the surroundings. We knoweth the foe. But we are wanting in strength. And with thee h're, we can square backeth. I can square on mine own owneth. I'm eft to beest int'rrogat'd bef're taking me in." The creature straightens and looks Lia in the eye. "I'm not afraid of demons and mine own f...

Kat nodded thoughtfully for a moment. "Very well, I take both of your councils." She placed a hand on Nia's shoulder, "Be off with you if you have shomeplace better to be my friend. We will meet in the morning." "You coming?" she nodded to Jacques, before heading over to the young boys. "So what's thish all about boysh? What are we on about?" Can't find any good pictures of pirate boys/deckhands, unfortunately. We'll have to imagine! For a moment the six boys go dead quiet, their eyes swiveling from the bartender back and forth amongst one another, until finally a lanky freckled brown-skinned youth with toussled dark red hair pushes to the fore of the group. "You're Katerina del Corazón? I'm Theo, and these are m' boys," he chuffs up his scrawny chest, tapping his nose and tossing his head over his shoulder to indicate the surly youths behind him. "See, Darling Swinerton's favorite ribbon was stolen..." "By monkeys!" pipes up one of the deckhand lands. "Aye, by monkeys. Three of the mea...

Just convince him he needs to do his penance immediately so he doesn't burn in hell... ;) Shay, it's okay! This game is slow as molasses anyway and it's likely mostly my fault lol Sent from my iPad using EN World Well, I'm at least 6x more at fault than you are, since the DM has the responsibility power equivalency of all players in the game. It's science. Culpability science. Like Tina Fey and sheet cake.

"Nawww, I'm okay," Kat smiled at her friend, "I've been way drunker myshelf." She frowned at her own sentence, then shrugged. "I knows the way home just fine." "Before you go, whaddya think of thoshe scurvy dogs? The onesh with the map? Or that group of underfed boysh? We could use both I'd dareshay." Nia frowned slightly and surveyed the room, her peculiar eyes lingering on the pirates Kat called out. "De ones wit' de map would need watchin.' Dey will not want to share what dey seek, even if we convince dem we will help dem find it. De boys will be a handful...but dey can still learn. But dey are young, not seasoned. Some may break if tested severely." She looked back at Kat. "Follow you instincts. If it comes to a choice between dem, I would say go wit' de younger ones. If we earn dere respect, we ken trust dem."

I played 2E in high school, so barely remember back that far lol Ahh, yes, I forgot that I was in the company of mere children. 2E hit during my college years. You make me feel almost as old as did my recent 50th(!) birthday. (Please save the 'best wishes,' all, just make a small contribution to your local old folks' home in my name.) I skipped 3e completely and only "tasted" 3.5 in PbP - we played GURPS Gulliver rules - I only started with DnD with 4e living world. Nowadays, DnD is something I play only online. My face-to-face playing diminished to twice a year. But thanks to technology, we still play in real time across the europe (germany, england and croatia) Do you still play GURPS face-to-face twice per year?

"If they are schared away, it's their loss," Kat stated confidently. "We don't need any scharedy cats on our ship anyways." She let her gaze wander around the crowded tavern, looking for competent sailors and fighters. If there were any or be had, she'd have them. http://i.imgur.com/WLT9QjP.png A look across the ranks of skulduggerous rogues frequenting Blackreef's Tavern reveals several familiar faces... http://i.imgur.com/BH6uXeL.jpgThere is Ulsta, of course, the indefatigable dwarven bar mistress... http://i.imgur.com/DMgSNSj.jpg...and Fulke 'Mad Eyes' Smyth, an old drinking friend of Katerina's, who is being heckled by several drunks after failing to get the "singing pirates" to shut up... https://i.pinimg.com/236x/3e/2c/56/3e2c565c02c32ba955589449469e3ba0--fantasy-dwarf-fantasy-rpg.jpg...then there were those you'd already recruited to your crew, including the 13 Dutch dwarven deserters of the destroyed Leeuwen, led by Viatrix de Smit... http://www.conflicts.rem33.co...

I'm back and can post! My original thoughts were that Lola would pretend to be new in town (okay that's not pretend) but try to secure "respectable" lodgings and look around for a job, possibly teaching. Figure out Reign's schedule and maybe accidentally come across him, but not really interact with him, yet. However, I'm open to anything! Sent from my iPad using EN World mobile app Sounds like a plan, there is a boarding house run by Sam Grainfeld, fairly respectable, he would also know a lot about town and be able to give you pointers on where to find what ever you are looking for.

So, I am here! And not dead, which generally makes me happy. I hadn't expected to be so overall sick feeling and essentially off the internet with the exception of some FB phone browsing. Anyhoo... initially I had thought Lola would take the next day to get an apartment or some other type of "more permanent" lodgings and sort of distance herself from the group so our plot would work. Then you mentioned you wanted everyone to stick together, and since I wasn't feeling well... I know I just kind of disappeared. Big apologies to everyone for that. If you want Lola (and Casca) to be with the main group, that's fine. I'll catch up and make a post about it. Whatever makes it easiest for you eayres33. Or, if you want fenris and I to step out, we can do that as well and you can run Lola as an NPC. Your call. Glad you are feeling better, it makes sense to have Lola and Casca out doing there own thing, they could have met up with some of the other people on the list to cut down on getting information...

"And exactly what kind of problème are you looking to get into, Senor? Because we have quite a lot of troublemakersh around this place." A mischievous smile broke out on the pirate's face. Kat poured herself another rum and had a long drink, before waving to Ulsta to bring more ale for her new friend. "Nia?" She raised her eyebrows, asking if she'd want to join in the merriment. The sea witch shook her head. "None for me. I cannot drag you back to you room if I can't walk eidder." She glanced at Zef and shrugged. "He's a dwarf. He'll be fine."

Sorry for the absence guys. I had surgery last week and the time leading up to it and the recovery has been really rough. I've barely been online and Fenris has been having to really take care of me. He's off now picking up more meds that will hopefully help and we can get back to things soon. Sent from my iPad using EN World I hope you get well soon, don't worry about the game just come back when you are ready.
