[Shop] Kolex, Contractor: Armaments, Building, Tools

Adventurer
Little more than a large tarpaulin around a forge, the shop is simple and unadorned. A short, squat dwarf toils away, making various metal items--mostly horseshoes, but a few weapons are to be found. A beautiful waraxe is mounted above the placard while the dwarf, one Thargon Kolex, occupies the shop.

A small board by the sign reads, "Free Blade Sharpening".

A silver haired human enters the shop and sees Kolex. He quickly walks over to the dwarf. "Ah, Master Kolex, there you are. I lost you on that last turn, but luckily I was able to hear the sounds of your hammering. So, as we were discussing just a few minutes ago, I would be looking for a finely crafted longsword and shield. If possible, I'd like the shield to have the same design on the front as my holy symbol here. If needed I could help in the forging although I won't be much more than an extra set of hands."

ooc: That would be a masterwork longsword and masterwork heavy wooden shield, please.

Thargon looks over the symbol. "Six silver dice, eh? I know you mentioned that you'd want it out of wood, but to get that sheen, I'd like to make that shield out of metal. Tell you what, if you'd be willing to take a steel shield instead of a wooden one, I'll make the set for you for 375 gold, which is the same price I'd charge for a wooden shield and longsword. You won't find a fairer price in all of Orussus. Will that work for you?"

Thargon smiles. "Wonderful! I prefer working in steel anyway."

[sblock=Craft rolls]
Crafting MW longsword: take 10 +11 (metal weapon) = 21 Success. Cost: 31 craft points, 105 gp.
Crafting MW heavy steel shield: take 10 +11 (metal shield) = 21 Success. Cost: 17 craft points, 56.67 gp.

He toils away in the forge, carefully choosing his iron and coals. Slicing sections off the end of a square bar, he fashions a series of dice, polishes them, and welds them in a bar, inserting the carefully pattern-welded blade into them, making a pommel. For the shield, he methodically warms and shapes the metal, embossing the dice into the surface and drawing intricate wavy patterns emanating away from the dice in the center. When he is done, the effect of the pattern welding and embossing creates a lasting, chaotic pattern of squiggles across their surfaces that play with the light in many angles.

Later, he shows the results to Dorrin. "There, that should work for you. I hope they are to your satisfaction."

Dorrin tries out the heft of his sword and gives it a few passes through the air. "Excellent." he says as he passes over 37 platinum and 5 gold. "This should work perfectly. Perhaps later I may need your services again. Thank you. If you're ever looking for a game of cards or dice, you should look me up."

Dorrin shakes Kolex's hand and leaves the forge.

Sold Longspear to Barask for 4 gp. Cost: Free as it is a simple weapon. Pay 1 gp to workshop loan, total 62.65/500.
OOC: Much as I'd like to agree with you on this, unfortunately, the proceeds of the "free" simple weapons are not available to our shopowners. They're simply the fluff to explain the wage paid weekly by the job system. So you'll have to remove that 3 gp from your funds and add the 1 gp back to the outstanding lease payments.

Edit: Oh, and checking your weekly rate of pay, it's too high. After lengthy discussion, the judges decided that only half the dwarven racial bonus for working with metals applies to the calculation of income from the job, since there are many weapons which are not solely composed of metal. (Thread here.) And the bonus from using masterwork tools is not a "permanent bonus", which is what is specified in the description of the job system:
[sblock=Description of Craftsman's Job (my emphasis added)]CRAFTSMAN
You are a craftsman, making a living on creating and selling items.
Requirements: At least 1 Craft skill at 4 ranks.
gp/week: 2.5 plus 1/4 the highest Craft skill modifier you have (ranks in Craft + Int modifier + other permanent bonuses).
Special Payment: You gain 1 Craft Point per week per rank in your highest Craft skill.
Special: You can craft, buy and sell items in a seperate thread while not adventuring. You must possess artisan tools. If you do not have one yet, you must set aside at least 1/4 of your income for a workshop, which costs 500 gp to buy.
You are assumed to have a selection of common goods (simple weapons, light armor, non-masterwork items) for sale. These cost neither money nor Craft Points to maintain. Other items need to be crafted or bought first.[/sblock]That means that the calculation should be 2.5 + 1/4 (4 ranks + 3 Int bonus +1 half racial bonus = 8) = 4.5 gp per week.

You'll need to retcon your income entries, I'm afraid. :(
