Combat Challenge Round 1 (Cont)

Ryk takes his magical returning boomerang in hand, watching the chain wielder's movements so as to strike him at a vulnerable spot. He waits for the right moment, then lets fly. The hobgoblin dodges the boomerang, not realizing that the weapon's path will curve back toward him. On the return pass, it almost hits the brute's shoulder, but he ducks just in time with a taunting grin. During the distraction caused by the throw, Spring and Ryk move closer to the hobgoblins' improvised fortifications. [Miss both]

However, as Spring and Ryk move into place, the wall before them seems to partially collapse; the surprised Ryk has no time to react. Sharp debris sprays the area, some it of slicing into Spring's foot, slowing him down! Ryk now sees the hobgoblin crouched behind the wall. [Hob uses readied action and shoves wall in close attack. Hits Spring for 11hp and slowed (save ends). Hob is prone and behind the wall.]

Triangles are difficult terrain. White boxes are low walls of debris; they are sharp and likely do damage to those that move into them. They can be vaulted with a DC 20 Acrobatics check; failure means end of movement.[/sblock]Status

Bladebearer 1 - Acted; Prone, superior cover (cover if wall adjacent)

"The rest of them are all probably behind the wall, ready to push the rest of it down, and to flank us if we move into that funnel," Rikka purred, still watching the scene develop. While she held her bow ready in one hand, the other held not an arrow, but a strange object which looked like an oddly decorated leg-bone (from who-knows-what kind of creature). She made a strange slashing gesture with the totem, and the air around the dirgesinger and chainwielder seemed to swirl with a blast of icy chill. Without even waiting to see the effect of the blast Rikka lunged to her left- staying clumped together made the group far too easy a target...

[sblock= OOC 1: Questions and stuff)] Rikka has some Slide 1 powers (a burst 1 and a melee touch)- she will do what she can to break formations and stuff. How high are those walls, anyway? And what kind of Athletics roll would we need to vault through the collapsed section? [/sblock]

[sblock= OOC 2: Actions and rolls]
>Standard: Chill Wind at F7 (area burst 1, should catch dirgesinger and chains- rolled in that order); +9 vs. FORT= 11, 14 (Miss both, I assume): if it hits cold damage and slide 1 (Dirge to E6, chains to H8); rolls Roll Lookup
>Move: to Q2 [/sblock]

[sblock=More Answers]The walls are about 5', but the sharpness make direct climbing or vaulting a danger. Its a DC 20 Athletics check with a running start; w/o a running start its still DC 20 but you need DC 25 to do it without taking damage.[/sblock]

OOC: Yet another ridiculous round where everybody misses :)

Bellegon moves toward the choke point, but avoids coming too close to the walls. Standing right toward goblinoid brute he glares at him, but he could glare at the wall for all the effect it got him.

Frustrated, he flicks shard of shadow toward prone form of the one who collapsed the wall.

[sblock=Actions]
Move: L8, shadow walk active
Minor: Curse B1 (if he is out of sight because he's prone then curse SH1)
Standard: Spiteful Glamor vs. SH1 Will (1d20+8=11, 1d12+6=10) - miss?

The weapon grazes the dirgesinger's shoulder, cutting some of her garment. She tsks and then grins, ready for more. [Hit]

The winds blow up some trash left on the field, but the two warriors hold their ground. [Miss both]

The others move quickly and the enemy reveals himself as the coward hiding in the shadows. Vok strides forward, moving next to the fallen hobgoblin, "Your meager wall will not protect you from me" he declares and slashes down on the foe, scoring a minor wound.

He then turns his attention to the chain-wielder, "Come, face a true warrior and see how you fare" as his eyes flare a bright blue briefly and the hobgoblin cannot take his attention away from Vok.

[Hit and marked]

Combat Challenge Round 2

The larger hobgoblin chuckles at Vok's challenge. So be it, half-breed. He steps forward, building momentum with his chains before they snake out at the paladin. But, as a show of force, its a farce—the first slams into the wall next to Vok, spreading debris harmlessly while the other catches on the first chain. The hob bellows in rage while the crowd raises a laughing cheer! [Double nat 1!]

Standing, the formerly hidden scimitar warrior also slices at the paladin. His attack fairs little better, going too wide. [Miss]

Then, from nowhere, another of the scimitar wielders pops up. He attempts to leap over the wall, but cannot find solid purchase. [Vault fails]

The dirgesinger chuckles to herself. Is this the true Blood of the Six Kings? Our acestors would wail at this display, Sharat Hesh! For shame! She dances over to the wall, her humming building to a crescendo, released with a flick of her sword against Ryk & Spring! The wall of sound slams into them both, causing them to stagger; the force is enough to burst blood vessels in Spring's ears. There, there are your targets! [Both hit for 17 thunder via close burst; Spring bloodied; hobs have +2 to hit both TENT]

First Post
Vok laughs at the chain-wielder's pathetic attempts, stepping closer to the enemy to give him less room to maneuver, especially over the rough area.

"By the Host, grant me strength" the half-elf calls out, his sword begins glowing with soft white light.

With a roar, Vok slashes at the enemy with his now-enchanted blade, the longsword crashes down on his foe and an explosion of white light emanates from the blade. It washes over the entire hobgoblin contingent and they are bathed in the Host's energy. Vok is a glowing beacon that they are distracted by.

Rikka spun her totem in the same slashing gesture she had used before, once more attempting to call upon the power of the wind- she knew the air spirits were strong here in Sharn, but she was not sure she had the power to compel them... This time the winds were stronger, and Rikka gave a fierce smile as she moved across the field.
