Not sure what you mean. Splint is much more expensive and raises your AC by 1 over chain. That isn't an even swap. And nothing about a dex penalty on either.

Okay. That should be a fine switch, though I am not sure why. Your AC will still be the same, and still have DA on Stealth. Are you trying to save the 25 gp difference?

Scale is 1 better than chain. It's just heavier and causes DA on stealth checks to the wearer.

Oh wait. I see the problem! I 'WAS' thinking Chain shirt while actually reading chain mail. I guess this is my first true fighter in this edition and so stuck on the idea that chainmail is Medium armor and chain shirts are light. Yeah, Owyn is a medium armor specialist and as such is actually better off in Scale than chain mail. (Max DeX increases to 3 with the feat.)
