D&D 5E Tomb of Annihilation campaign recaps

My guys will level to 7th next session. I've kept them at 6th for almost all of Omu, but fighting wasn't that common. They're at the cusp of entering the Fane of the Night Serpent, and a spokesman (snakesman?) will approach them next session about the last cube and audience with Ras Nsi. I wonder what kind of shenanigans they'll get into down there....

I'm looking forward to hearing how that goes. More than any other place in ToA, I feel this has the potential to go anywhere depending on player actions and DM decisions.

I had to change history a little and rewrite the end of the previous session, as the player who is Trayzeal was running very late. I didn't want a PvP session without the protagonist there. So instead I had his character not attack immediately. I got him to attack the moment he arrived IRL.

Also worth noting, the entire time of the last few sessions I have had tabs open on my laptop with corpse jokes, skeleton jokes and death jokes open to refer to. This has meant that Yakka has spent all of the last couple of sessions doing really bad jokes at the worst possible moments. The party are groaning and desperate to get rid of him. It's great.

My next session finally took place after a three month delay...Quite an RP-heavy session as expected. The captured PCs were presented to Fenthaza in the Fane, and undertook their slave labours with good grace. As planned, Fenthaza has now recruited them to run a slave revolt. They have each taken a 'sidekick' to run from amongst the other prisoners in the pits, so there will be 11 in all including Orvex, who I will run defensively. They're outside the armoury, their escorts have just slithered off and left them to speak the passphrase and gain entrance to there, from where they can arm themselves and plan the attack!

Fenthaza is going to wait for the gong and then move on Ras Nsi once Sekelek is out of the way...

I've drawn up a spreadsheet of all the Fane combatants with pre-rolled HPs and initiatives, so we're ready for action next session. I love this, as I have no idea how it's going to go. I guess Fenthaza and her guards will take down Ras Nsi if they get the chance and time to do so, but will the PCs just try to get out, or will they try to clear the place, hunt Ras Nsi themselves, or what? I've no idea!

Since they were still L5 I milestone-levelled them all to L6 ready for the revolt. Not something I normally do, but hopefully they appreciate it rather than seeing it as a sad indictment on their being taken prisoner...

Oh and they still have barely an inkling about the puzzle cubes and tomb of the nine gods. They think Ras Nsi might have the Soulmonger...lolz.

Finally - so they don't use and abuse their sidekicks, I'll let them know all combat XPs during the revolt are divided by 10, regardless of how many sidekicks survive or are slain.

Last night the PCs had a look at the entrance to the Fane. They have no idea how to get in, but they will level to 7th before next session.

For those that have finished or almost finished ToA, what percentage of the adventure do you think is completed by the time the party reaches the first level of the tomb? I feel like we have done a huge chunk of it, but that damn thing is six levels deep, so it's hard to judge. Due to circumstances, we actually might not be able to complete the module due to people moving away and other factors.
