I don't know how Publisher's Weekly works their numbers, but they have Xanathar's down for 45,219 books sold year to date?

Well it’s nice to have numbers. So we can sort of correlate to amazon ranking, sorta.

I must admit, I never understood the interest in book sales figures, or movie box office, etc. I mean, I understand why WotC employees care, but it holds no real interest for me. I like an occasional MacDonalds, but I don’t care how many Big Macs they sold this month!

There is a direct correlation, particularly in something like the tabletop hobby, between what sells and what we see more of. Book I like sells well, odds are I will get more of what I like. If a book I like doesn't sell well, likely not to see more of it.
