WOIN Roll20 for WOIN

I'd also be interested in playing. I'm in a game that plays in the late morning and early afternoon on Sundays (in my timezone, GMT -7), but I could play later that evening, or almost any time on Saturday. I'd be especially interested in trying out the "away team" idea described in the book, where each player makes three different characters (a bridge officer, a marine, and a specialist) and we each pick one to play on each mission (so a space mission would mostly involve the bridge crew, while a combat focused away mission might involve mostly the marines). I'm flexible though, so if nobody else wants that I'm fine with a normal campagn (I just like making characters).

I've also just started an effort to improve the WOIN character sheet on Roll 20. In response, the text alignment problem with the attribute values appears to have been fixed by the sheet's original author (in a development version, I think), but there's a good chance we can make other changes too, like getting updated condition status tracks and maybe some better named fields for the movement speed and attack entries. If you are interested in helping out (even just with ideas on how the sheet should look or operate), check out my Roll20 forum post and the GitHub issues I linked from there.

I think an Away Team kind of game sounds a bit like a West Marches type of game, what if we set one of those up? Since there is so many people from different time zones and a lot of people may be interested this could be a good option. You can have between 8 to 50 players in a West Marches game with possibly 2 GMs.

"1) There was no regular time: every session was scheduled by the players on the fly.

2) There was no regular party: each game had different players drawn from a pool of around 10-14 people.

3) There was no regular plot: The players decided where to go and what to do. It was a sandbox game in the sense that’s now used to describe video games like Grand Theft Auto, minus the missions. There was no mysterious old man sending them on quests. No overarching plot, just an overarching environment.

The West Marches charter is that games only happen when the players decide to do something — the players initiate all adventures and it’s their job to schedule games and organize an adventuring party once they decide where to go."

There is currently 9 West Marches games on Roll20 with the largest holding 60 people. Maybe this is too far fetched to do for a WOIN game but I'd love to try, I'd still join if I might only be able to play a game once a month because of my schedule.

Please give me your thoughts on this

Sunday evenings about 6 pm Pacific (GMT -8, I believe) works for me and a couple of us. I have to coordinate with my Delta Green Game, but I expect a couple openings a month ... including this coming Sunday (Sept 2). We could do some campaign planning and / or some quick roleplay for those able to make it.

I’m not familiar with “West Marches” as a setting, but a player driven sandbox sounds fun. I have an Obsidian Portal account, and could match the Roll20 platform with a campaign wiki / website. Folks could see all the PCs and revealed NPCs, Blue book / PMeM, etc. it might also help create a little more WOIN buzz as well.

I'm reading up on the West Marches campaign style. It might be an interesting experiment for a N.E.W. Game. I'll post my notes here shortly.

It would be really interesting to not only try it as an experiment, but then prepare an EONS article or community PDF are: experiences running a West Marches game for WOIN.
