Kleborn watches as all unfolds. He draws his sword, grasps his shield, and stays close to Duncan and company. He is really starting to like that crew. "Of course I am going to join in this fight." Kleborn exlaims. He yells to the Sphinx, "You will pay for that!"

As Sylvar watches Dewyyd fall his head drops. Sylvar shakes his head and clenches his fist...angry at Dewyyd's recklessness, angry at the Sphinx. He watches as Thallock charges in...and prepares to do the same. "Well, if we're going to die at least we'll be together."

Sylvar will cast Greater Invisibility on Thallock...then prepare to fire on the Sphinx.

Damarra and Tam charge at the hated Sphinx. With a hoarsely whispered curse and a fiercely spat oath on his lips: ("From the heart of the Nine Hells, I curse thee. From the Well of Death's core I spit on thee and call thee. and all your ilk, damned in the eyes of the world."), Tam sharply goads Damarra with his knees.

Damarra races for the ankle of the monster. Upon reaching her target, she rears up enough to lay in with a bite.

GM:
Damarra's bite: (43). (Hits Sphinx's AC of 29.)
Crit confirmation: 38 (confirmed); Damarra scores a critical hit!
Damarra's bite Damage: 2d6+10, x2 for crit: 4d6+20 = 30 pts.
(I had to recalculate damage. You did 2d6+29, it was supposed to be 4d6+20.)

Tam follows behind with two strikes (33 and 30). (Both hit)
(I had to re-roll your attacks to be fair because you rolled 4 times instead of twice.)

Tam's sword Damage @ 1d4+1 (5 and 3) + Poison. (And you forgot sneak attack, 4d6 each attack.) (12,20);

Total damage: 17+23 = 40 pts. + 2 poison doses. (Effects listed in the coming post.)

GRAND TOTAL: 70 points damage. What an awesome halfling!! Go, Tam!! Woot!

Khubsheth Feels The Power Of Tam & Thallok!

GM:
INITIATIVE COUNT:

Tam-Tam: 23
Thallok: 21
Vale: 20
Ebony: 18
Lenny: 15
Respen: 14a1
Sylvar: 14a2
Khubsheth: 14b
Travis: 13
Kleborn: 11
Duncan: 7

Huge Monstrous Spider Venom: DC 16, 1d8 Str Loss.
2 hits.
Save #1: 37 (Saved)
Save #2: 38 (Saved)
Save #3: (First Delayed Onset): 46 (Saved)
Save #4: (First Delayed Onset): 45 (Saved)

Tam's poison has no effect.

Khubsheth was hit 3 times, once by Damarra, and twice by Tam.
With DR, damage is reduced by 3 x 10 pts. (30 total.)
Khubsheth takes 40 pts. damage total from Tam's fierce charge.
Khubsheth has taken a total of 160 pts. damage so far.
Khubsheth is moderately injured.

Tam lashes out in fury against the beast that slew his friend! Wounds which would skewer a normal man find little purchase on the beast's tough hide, nevertheless, Tam does manage to injure Khubsheth, who eyes him with new-found respect for his ferocity!

Thallok says "Let us begin" He draws Mirios, shuffles his shoulders, rears the new blade back and lays out multiple attacks on his enemy.

GM:
Thallok calls smite enemy on the first attack. (I gave you this as a mulligan, since it was I who recommended which attack to spend the smite on.)

His stance is Iron Guard's Glare.

Attack 1: 37 (Hit) (with Smite Chaos)
Haste Attack: 40 (Hit)
Attack 2: 23 (Miss)
Attack 3: 24 (Miss)

Damage from attack 1: 2d6+16=23, +11 (Smite)= 11+23 = 34 pts.
Damage from haste attack: 2d6+16 = 24
Total Damage: 58 points.

Khubsheth's DR DOES NOT COUNT AGAINST MIRIOS, Because Khubsheth is the monster type (Outsider) that Mirios was designed to defeat!
Khubsheth has taken a total of 218 points damage so far.
Khubsheth is significantly injured! (Khubsheth has taken more than half his total hit points in damage.)

Khubsheth now has a -4 to hit and damage versus everyone in the party (except for Thallok.)

Recognition flashes in Khubsheth's eyes, as he sees Thallok bring Mirios to bear! The beast back-pedals, anxiously trying to avoid the silvery blade! With pure luck, he avoids two of Thallok's blows, but the other two land upon him, in explosions of silvery light!

Khubsheth roars in fear! "NOOOoooo! Abigail's blade was never meant for MEEEE!!! AAAARRRGGGGGHHHHH!!"

Khubsheth stands his ground, unwilling to retreat, but tears begin to well up in his eyes, as he surveys the party. "You have my respect, noble ones! Your power is great! Your deaths shall be legendary!"

Vale The Lion Tamer...or Catnip...The Jury Is Still Out...

~ This is bad business...~.

Vale is visibly shaken by this legendary creature’s irrational behavior, and further dismayed by Dewydd’s death. He had spent so much energy being angry at Margull, Laramon, and most of all his own Order, he had been quietly excited about another adventure. Val the Axe’s silence he attributed to it needing the same thing, action. But he hadn’t counted on this.

Unhooding himself from the sun, he squinted at Khubsheth, disgusted by the creature’s behavior.
Ye sanctimonious twit! Ye not guardin’ the children from the asp, ye guardin’ the asp from us ferrets! Are ye daft also? Ye bloody well are gonna regret it, ye mangy cur!!

Vale prayed his spell quietly, but his eyes glowed blue, and with one hand he unleash the spell with a one handed air chop downward of his left hand, his right hand simultaneously pulling his Axe from its scabbard. The spell crackled loudly as blue-green fire sprang to life forty feet above Khubsheth, and hammered Khubsheth vertically catching only its target and engulfing the space between Khub and the rock south of him away from Respen. Before the spell finished, Vale moved hastily due west.

OOC: . Vale casts Flame Strike on Khubsheth and moves to space Y2

GM:
Dam: 37 pts. Reflex DC: 22.
Khubsheth: 24 (saved)
Khubsheth takes 18 points of damage from the blast of divine fury.
Khubsheth has taken a total of 236 pts. of damage.

Respen...redux...

~ Drastic measures ~

Still under the magical hasted effect, Respen contemplates his attack for a moment, seeing the rest of the party move into action. The “Prophet” is dangerous, withering, catastrophic. Respen feels the spell more than speaks it. He lurches forward, digging deeply from his memory of a creature he studied under Auror, a monster of marshes and wetlands. He closes 5 feet toward the androsphinx as his form changes supernaturally into a twelve-headed monster, all the heads with but a single purpose; to make Khubsheth into an oversized teething ring. All of the heads attack in force.

OOC: Respen Polymorphs into a 12 headed Hydra; See Rolz.org for hit rolls: 8 out 12 hits; one critical; Damage as follows: 15; 22; 18; 19; 20; 15; 19; 28

GM:
TOTAL RAW DAMAGE: 156 points.
Minus DR (10 pts. per attack) = 10 * 8 = 80 = (156-80) = 76 points.
Khubsheth has taken a total of 312 points of damage so far.
Khubsheth is critically injured!

Although Sylvar's desire is to lay into the Sphinx with his sword he knows his talents lay elsewhere.

He casts Greater Invisibility on Kleborn, concealing the fighter. He then moves into position to fire on the cat.

Sylvar calls forth his bow, and an arrow materializes from the ether.

He fires on the Sphinx. At the last moment, Khubsheth suddenly turns his body, and the arrow misses, whistling by only a few inches to the beast's left flank.

GM:
Flat-footed AC for Khubsheth: 28.
Attack roll for arrow: (24) = Missed.

KHUBSHETH CLAIMS RESPEN'S MORTAL SOUL!!!

Khubsheth smiles, as the blood pours down his body in various places, "You were almost worthy, but almost doesn't cut it against the Queen. She is far more vicious than I. When others learn of your party's death, they will know the true power needed to survive below. Your deaths shall serve to draw the interest of TRUE champions, ones capable of defeating the Queen, and putting an end to her evil curse, once and for all! You fought well, my children, but playtime is now OVER!!"

GM:
SWIFT ACTION: LEGENDARY ABILITY: Blood In, Blood Out.
Fortitude DC: Base 10 + ½ HD + CHA (+6) = 10+11+6 = DC 27.
(Fort Save DC 27 for half damage)
Ability: Once per day, you can focus your legendary energy to heal your wounds completely, by transferring them to other creatures, by means of a blast of energy. The ability includes all wounds taken within a number of rounds equal to half your Hit Die. (Khubsheth: All wounds taken in the last 11 rounds, or the last 1 minute and 6 seconds.) Spell Resistance applies, because despite the physical nature of the damage, it is delivered by magical means, and the CL for the ability is equal to the creature's full HD. (Khubsheth: CL 23) The blast affects all enemies within a radius of the creature, equal to the creature's HD x 10. (Khubsheth: 230 foot radius.) The damage is divided equally among all enemies.

312 / 10 = 31.2 = Each party member suffers 31 points of damage, as physical wounds erupt by rips and tears all over their body!

Khubsheth will automatically penetrate any Spell Resistance of 24 or less.

If you have Damage Reduction, it applies. This ability is considered a normal, physical attack (it is simply delivered by magical means.)

You may make a Fort save vs. DC 27 for half damage (15 points.)

Khubsheth is healed for 310 points.

Regular Action: Khubsheth calls 17 points of Power Attack.
Khubsheth attacks Respen: Respen's AC: 22 + Haste (2) = 24.
Khubsheth has a -4 penalty to hit and damage vs. Respen.
Total + to-hit: (+25) - 4 = +21. Khubsheth needs a 3 or better to hit Respen.
3 Hits; Claw damage: 44,45 = 89 points. Rending Rake damage: 83.
Respen takes a total of (89+93) = 172 points.
Respen has died.

Khubsheth is down by 2 hit pts. He is virtually unscathed.

Khubsheth roars, and a wave of energy pulses out from him in a concentric circle; each party member within the 230' blast radius (i.e., everyone in the party) writhes in pain, as their flesh begins to peel and tear!

GM:
Spell Resistance applies; Khubsheth automatically overcomes SR 24 and less.
Damage reduction applies. Despite being delivered by magical means, this is a physical attack, inflicting physical damage.

You will each take 31 points of damage. You can make a Fort save DC 27 to take only half damage (15.)

You are all terrified to watch, as Khubsheth's wounds all close, and he pounces upon Respen The Hydra with a grin and a wink! Khubsheth literally rips Respen in two, ignoring the heads, attacking the massive Hydra's body, and ripping it open like a pinata! Blood gushes from the creature, as it collapses and dies!

There is a poof of smoke, and the body of the Hydra is replaced by the true form of Respen, which has been disemboweled!

It is now Travis' turn. The remaining initiative count before Khubsheth's next action is: Kleborn, Duncan, (New Round) Tam, Thallok, Vale, Ebony, Lenny, and Sylvar. For now, you guys can state intentions and actions for Travis, Kleborn, and Duncan, then I will respond to those actions, then everyone else (in the new round) can go ahead and go.

TRAVIS: WHAT DO YOU DO?
