"Major AF" indeed.

If it does use 5E, it'll hopefully include all options from the Player's Handbook at least. Anything else is just gravy in my opinion.

D&D games are usually scaled down from the PHB.

This is mostly so you have a game to play. For example you can't scry, teleport in 2E games. Or you can only play one character in a story game. Revan in KoToR for example (it's d20 over D&D).

Restricting options often makes a better video game.

I doubt all the phb spells will make it

While that would be awesome, I wouldn't get my hopes up.

IIRC, even NWN1 didn't have some of the extra stuff until its first expansion. It's been ages since I first played, so my memory might be a bit fuzzy. I would expect more via expansions and DLC for BG3. In fact, I would be disappointed if they didn't do expansions or DLC for this.

Rumors about Baldur's Gate III have been floating around since last October, so maybe this time they are real. Those old rumors also had Larian Studios working on it, so we shall see.

Personally, I would rather have a good PS4 sequel to the old PS2 Baldur's Gate: Dark Alliance games. :)

BTW what are the media outlets saying teasing that it might be BG3, when it's right in the text files for the video announcement, that in my books is outright confirmation. That's not something they do by accident, and they wouldn't do that just to lie to people unless they are thirsty for hate mail.

No its silly to say it might be at this point, they straight up are.

Well, they didn't consider that people would read the metadata, so they did that by accident: but, yes, this is happening.

I’d be all for that, as long as it had a PC version. I’m never gonna spend that kinda money on a glorified one trick computer.

So, thinking it over, and adding in some hints from some recent LYSKs, I'm wondering if this will be a sequel in that Bhaal himself will be up to some shenanigans in present-day Baldur's Gate, perhaps even trying to revive some of the old Bhaalspawn? The fact that Bhaal's symbol is prominently displayed on the BG : DtA cover obviously shows that there will be some sort of Bhaal storyline in the city. That way it could still be a sequel (albeit a distant one), without picking back up on the exact original storyline (which was, for all intents and purposes, completed after Throne of Bhaal).

Also, I wonder if the NPC adjustments for 1489 DR in Heroes of Baldur's Gate might have some clues whether some old characters reappear? We know Minsc and Boo are still around, but some of the other NPC fates mentioned could be quite interesting in a video game (Imoen being a clone of the original, especially).

In case you have not seen the special cover for Descent, the entire cover is Bhaal.
