Hello everyone. I am fascinated by the new Tortle race and have decided to play one. My question is, which class goes best with it? This can be from a mechanical or a RP perspective, preferably both. Thoughts? Opinions?

I always say: whichever class you are itching to play and will be fun for you!

That said, a tortle monk seems really familiar for some reason...

As Dave says, you don't need to restrict yourself, any race can be fun with any class. But if you are into optimizing, the Str bonus goes well with fighter, barbarian and paladin. The shell AC might be particularly useful for a barbarian.

I like Land Druid Tortles.

Thematically being an anthropomorphized animal makes you close to nature. Shell+Shield is 19 AC which is better than the 16 AC they are likely to get through dex, armour, shield.

They could make a pretty decent melee ranger, too. Favored enemy: plants. Hunting down exotic food.

As someone who enjoys Dragon Ball, I’m partial to Tortle monks, and Sun Soul monks in particular. It’s not an especially mechanically optimized setup, but who cares, it’s cool!

Tortles make decient druids mechancally, and that is supported by the lore.

Monk.

Strength based rogue for the lols. Scout would fit with the racial background.

Ranger.
