"Delve into a world of spies, assassins, diabolical masterminds and suave secret agents.

Peer behind the curtain of society into the world of the Agencies and take your place as a world class spy. Together with your crew of con-artists, specialists, infiltrators and hackers you will influence, subvert and overcome any challenge.

Will you topple corrupt governments or protect the interests of the highest bidder? Will you take out the target before they achieve their aims, or aid them? Will you counter worldwide threats, or become them yourselves? The Spy Game places your own intelligence agency on the world stage, where the promise of adventure waits for you!"

It uses the 5th Edition mechanics, with new eight classes: Face, Hacker, Infiltrator, Martial Artist, Medic, Ranger, Soldier, Technician.

You can grab a quickstart already. It contains a preview of the rules, a three-part adventure, and eight pregenerated characters.

Is this like the 3rd edition d20 OGL era all over again?

Has been for a while now. The only difference is the DMsG replaces the d20 STL, as WOTC figured out how to monetise third party efforts. And many publishers steer shy of that after the last two licenses, and stick to the OGL alone.

I'm a sucker for espionage games. Love the old James Bond RPG by Victory Games, and I played Top Secret/S.I. (and loved every minute of it).

It's so nice to see Modiphius put their publishing talents behind a game with a good system. They need to drop 2D20 like a bad habit.

This looks like a pick up, though.

I'm intrigued.

BTW, I like the realistic art--very appropriate for this type of game. One of the reasons I stayed away from the d20 Spycraft was the comic book looking art. The Spy Game looks very cool, though.

I'm sure it's meant to be a mask, but the Face's character art gives rather a strong impression that she's carrying around a severed head.

Probably. Which is not a bad thing necessarily. The 3E OGL era spawned an enormous mountain of garbage, but there were gems in there. Mike Mearls himself made his name with "Iron Heroes," a 3E-era OGL product.

What's wrong with 2D20? It seems to me to have the right feel for Star Trek Adventures. I couldn't even imagine a Star Trek game with classes and levels. It'd be ugly.

Don't get me started on 2D20. Good grief. It's the worst game system I've seen in decades.
