Do You Want 9 New D&D Classes?

Beast-tamers, gunfighters, tinkerers, savants, and more! These new classes expand your 5th Edition game in exciting new ways! Coming to Kickstarter soon! In 2017 we produced A TOUCH OF CLASS, a softcover book containing seven new classes for your 5th Edition game. It was incredibly popular, with nearly 2,500 backers. Now we're bringing you the sequel: nine new player classes in A TOUCH MORE CLASS. Here's how you get notified of the launch!

We'll be launching in about a month, and we'll have early bird rewards, If you want us to email you and tell you when we launch, click here and give us your email address! We won't use it for anything else.

Not only that, but we're also revising the original A TOUCH OF CLASS. You can get that revised edition through this Kickstarter too (backers of the previous Kickstarter will get the revised PDF for free).

A TOUCH OF CLASS: Alchemist, Cardcaster, Diabolist, Feywalker, Morph, Noble, Occultist.

A TOUCH MORE CLASS: Bloodweaver, Fatebender, Gemini, Geomancer, Gunfighter, Lodestar, Monster Tamer, Savant, Tinkerer.

You can get either or both books from this Kickstarter.

Beyond currently only works with WotC. There had been some discussion of plans to get 3PP in there in the past, but they haven’t talked about that in a while, best I can tell. Not sure if that plan has changed (read: cancelled) or just been pushed way back on their timetable.
Putting material on there as Homebrew is an option, except A) Beyond doesn’t let you make homebrew classes, and B) then you couldn’t charge money for your product.
For typical 3PP, that is entirely true. However, there is some Critical Role material present, including a class.

If there were a route for a 3PP to code, review and submit for approval classes - to Beyond - and then get them approved for inclusion on the site, that 3PP might have a signifiant advantage in selling their materials (both physical and perhaps on Beyond). I'm imagining Beyond charging a fee for the review and approval process and then taking a cut of digital sales, so it would likely end up having a barrier to entry that would preclude small folks from submitting, but it would be interesting to see some of the more significant 3PP materials included.

I said it and I say it again:

The keys to design a new class are:

- Right balance of power, of course.

- Fun gameplay. Class features have to be interesting, useful and not too complicate. A bad example is the psychic enervation by the psionic wilder class.

- Interesting concept. Each class is like a mark of identity, as clothes by urban tribes or Halloween costumes. A class isn't only a list of superpowers but it has to be its own source of inspiration of new stories. A bad example of this are the incarnate and the soulborn from "Magic Incarnum", practically paladin clones with soulmeld powers. At least the lurker from "the complete psionic" could be to create characters like the ones from the videogame saga "Assasin's Creed".

I'm doing a small series of short articles detailing the thinking/process behind making the A Touch More Class classes over on my humble blog. Might be up your alley. :)

I am very open to new classes for three reasons.

1. It gives me more space as a GM to tinker with different worlds and "time periods." More classes mean that I can more easily do a pseudo Elizabethan era, or Weird West, for example. The more classes there are, the more likely I can pare down choices without a player revolt..

2. D&D character design is a class based system. This gives us pre-built packages, at the cost of some freedom of choice. Having more classes helps players fine tune concepts, and gives fresh choices to long time players looking for a change.

3. It's just a lot of fun. I'm having a blast with my cardcaster from the first "Touch of Class" book.

So, for sure, I am excited about this book.

Yes,
1. Metal Dice $38 a set vs $2 plastic set Which rolls better?
2. Time management for DMS.
3. Time management for Players.
4. 3 minute rule check. How to find the rule in under 3 minutes. This is 2 hour class.
5. Lead mini, plastic mini, metal mini, which is best.
6. 5 minute painting your mini
7. Power gaming for fun and profit.
8. Role playing for profit.
9. How to get Jasper back on topic?

I am currently using the Golden Tarot, by Kat Black, which is a stunning deck.
But the EN deck looks very promising, and has the available spells printed on the cards, which will be very handy. Just have to have both, I guess.

They are tarot-sized too so should all work together!

For anyone that likes the cardcaster but lacks a tarot deck (and doesn't want to buy the *awesome* one that I put together which will be available in the A Touch More Class Kickstarter) the revised A Touch of Class has directions for using a regular deck of playing cards built into the cardcaster's class description.

Well, that was fun

Morrus, Any chance of getting FG version? Since I only buy all my 5E stuff on FG now, it's a requirement for me.

If FG wants to produce it, we’d be happy to license it to them. But we don’t put anything in a Kickstarter we can’t deliver as soon as it ends.

Understandable, and respected.

I see a lot of your other stuff hasn't been converted and published over there. Would you be open to a community converter for post KS?
