Taylar helps Vittero to his feet and says, "The others seem very active today. Let's go see what they found. Some activity will help clear your head." Taylar follows the group.

Adi waits, on the inside, the excitement of the grand adventure they are on is nearly overwhelming. On the outside he tries to remain calm but his excitement is betrayed by an inability to keep from pacing...

When the others get there he quickly fills them in, tripping over his words at times, showing them the bird and nearly bringing up his joke, but skipping over it with an unsuccessfully hidden grin, that could have been mistaken for excitement... After all is explained he nearly jogs down the stairs down to the trail, and waits for his friends.

Once they actually begin down the trail, he calms down some, and tries his best to be stealthy...using way to muffle his footsteps, conciously avoiding crunchy detritus on the forest floor.

Maka, seeing that Taylar and Vittero are behind him, pauses for a moment, to allow them to catch up. He then follows Adi and Raven, attempting to manipulate Way to make his footsteps as quiet as possible.

Day 260: Curious Feathers

Adi... On his way back up he attempts to find if the feathers will help him manipulate way...
OOC: Alchemical Sensitivity: effectiveness + konokoro + d100 => rarity
Adisakti: 26 + 15 + 50 = 91

GM: Adi is able to determine that the feather do favor some proclivity of Way Lines.

OOC: Alchemical Analysis: Time = 1 week * rarity factor / (effectiveness + konokoro +d100)
Time: 2 / (26 + 15 + 50) = 3 hours, 42 minutes

GM: Adi does not realize that he was "out of time" for almost four hours while analyzing the feathers, but this is beneficial for Vittero, who needed the time for his senses to return enough for him to function on his own. Raven Elk finds that the elapsed time allows him to feel more like he has control of his own thoughts. Adi finds that the feathers will augment the self-awareness of the possessor as well as they may be used to steal that self-awareness from another.

OOC: Take note of the running Character Data.

Raven Elk is intrigued by the information of a game trail. "I would like to investigate this game trail. Should we call the others, or just do this ourselves?"
GM: Raven Elk would like to be able to formulate this particular thought and statement, but something seems amiss with his cognitive process and it just will not form, yet.

Adi... attempts to get Maka's attention so he can see his signal to come over and explore this trail with Raven and himself.
GM: Seeing that he is on the blind side of the cliff facing from the opposing keep where the remainder of the crew is located, Adi ascends all the way back to the top and waves at the others tom come back over. In the interim when he was examining the feather, Vittero has recovered his own mental faculties.

Maka notices Adi's signal... calmly walks over to where Adi is standing.
Taylar helps Vittero to his feet and says, "The others seem very active today. Let's go see what they found. Some activity will help clear your head." Taylar follows the group.
GM: Once on his feet, Vittero comes to his senses and realizes that he now has control of his thoughts, though their clarity and purpose still seem a bit muddled. He is able to walk and talk on his own, but his words yet make little sense.

Maka, seeing that Taylar and Vittero are behind him, pauses for a moment, to allow them to catch up. He then follows Adi and Raven, attempting to manipulate Way to make his footsteps as quiet as possible.
OOC: Dampen Sound is a Novice Task that can be used to improve a Stealth chance. Maka needs at least 1 rank in the Aberrative Skill in order to perform this specific task.
Stealth: effectiveness + Inversion + d100 = 24 + 19 + 50 = 93

GM: As Adisakti makes his way back down the path and around the tight trail that leads over the precariously loose rocks where the birds had fallen, he is followed by Maka, Taylar, and Vittero. Once everyone meets back up with Raven Elk, the animal path that has been beaten to the kill sight from the Mourner birds is obvious. What is also obvious, is the fact that Vittero and Raven Elk are, neither one, acting fully themselves. Something is still wrong with their cognitive abilities.

During the time, the day has faded into late afternoon and the shadows have become very long and deep, especially this far down in a crevice. Does the party wish to proceed to follow the trail at this moment wait until the morning light, camping back up on the porch area?

Adi looks to be sure his friends are following, notices that Vittero and Raven Elk are both out of sorts. They are following, but they appear to be distracted or something. It dawns on him that the bird’s song must have a lasting effect. He turns and says, “Hey fellows, it’s getting late, how about we camp out on the keep landing and explore this path tomorrow?” Then something occurs to Adi. “Hey Taylar and Maka help me set up snares along this path while the others go up.”

OOC: Adi will try to set up 2 loop snares attached to trees, using the trees as springs.

Taylar will help with the snares, bending the trees so that the others can tie the loops and such, and setting up camp. When the question of what to do about the birds comes up he says, "We should keep stones in our pockets and if the mourners come back we can use those to get rid of them."

Day 260: Preparing for the Morrow

Adi looks to be sure his friends are following, notices that Vittero and Raven Elk are both out of sorts... Adi will try to set up 2 loop snares attached to trees, using the trees as springs.
Taylar will help with the snares...
OOC: Hunting: effectiveness + Empathy + d100
Adisakti: 26 + 13 + 50 = 89
Taylar: 20 + 18 + 50 = 78

GM: Adisakti and Taylar are able to find some suitable sapling to bend. Using some of the cord made from the intestines of previously collected game, the two are able to set two loop snares in, what they feel, is a good location along the well-traveled path.

Each crew members makes a bedding location upon the porch area of the above keep, no one near its eastern edge. The birds do not return that evening or during the night. At night was certainly not expected since all known songbirds go to roost at night. The late hours of the night bring some strange and loud squealing and growling from far below, waking everyone except Vittero, who is not yet fully cognizant.

The squealing stops almost as soon as it starts, Adi and Taylar knowing that it came from the direction of the snares. being too dark to see, the everyone decides to return to sleep and investigate with the morning light. The Mourner Birds do not return with the morning, either. Anticipation is keen as sleep is rubbed from the eyes, and everyone prepares to descend, including Vittero, who has completely recovered.

Moving as quickly as possible without twisting an ankle or provoking a fall, the crew turns the final bend to stare agape at the disappointment before them. The ground is marred and scored with signs of an obvious struggle. One of the saplings is permanently bent out of shape, and both snares are broken. Whatever the culprit it was small enough to trigger the devices, yet much too strong for them to hold. The area stinks of adrenaline fueled urine, as well.

The animal trail follows the curvature of the cliff rise and then dips into a small ravine that etches back into the stone , the depth shadowed by a larger tree on the opposite side of the trail. Some low growling is heard just before the sound of a clawed animal tearing from its hole. Clambering up the trail facing the party is a weasel like animal, three times larger size, with blood on its claws and in its bared teeth. Though related to the weasel or mink, Fishers are far more vicious and dangerous animals, willing to attack beasts more than twice their own size. The animal, stringing a bit of cord behind it, seems none too happy with the intrusion.
