Are "special looks" what they're calling "trailers" now? :)

yeah, apparently its not the 'real' trailer - which pundits are predicting will be released for Superbowl

the rise of the trailer industry as a phenomena in itself would make for an interesting study, they've become predictable 'events' that compete for space in a crowded attention market, especially with the various studios are churning out multiple big budget movies each year

it might just be an American thing but the Hollywood hype machine means that trailers arent just trailers anymore

I recall in the days before youtube, when a trailer for a film was only done before a movie, and the number of times people left the theater AFTER the trailer... they had no intention of watching the film the trailer was before. Just the trailer.
I remember when the movie "Robots" came out with a trailer attached for SW: RotS
And this whole "let's give her cosmic level powers" with a cardboard personality almost makes me rooting for the better developed "bad guys" in such a situation.

And this movie/character is rumored to be the race of the post Infinite War MCU... is not reassuring. (Can anyone say BvS and Justice League and what they were supposed to be for the DCEU).
I'm guessing you don't know much if anything about her from the comics...

Iwould love to find out where you are reading all of the "rumors" you post....

No flips for you!

This helped inflate the ticket sales for a movie.
I worked in a major theater chain after high school for more than a year, and I don't recall this ever happening once. This seems apocryphal.

The fact Marvel Comics can't keep her series ongoing because no one wants to buy/read her comics must tell you something.

Yes, but probably not what you think.

The decisions to keep a comic in print are generally made on the basis of single-issue sales month over month. And there, it seems that comics led by female or minority characters don't do terribly well.

However, diversity leads top the sales of trade paperback formats. Basically, the folks who read diversity titles want to read an entire story at once, not have it dribbled out over months. It is a case of executives in the business not keeping up with the reading patterns among various demographics.

She has always been powerful - up to and including channeling the power out of the core of a star. And... if you are judging character personality off of a trailer... well, that's your problem.

Also, the movies looks like it's gonna be a lot of fun!

I love Danvers, so I was stoked for this from the first announcement, and now I'm even more stoked.

I really hope we get a quick easter egg shot of Kamala Khan being inspired by/fan-girling over Captain Marvel
