From the adventure's designer, Stephen Radney-MacFarland:

“This short adventure is designed to allow you, the Game Master, to present the game to newcomers, showcasing the new rules in a quick and fun manner. This adventure can be run for four players within an hour, which gives you enough time to explain the basic rules of the game to your players before throwing them into the jaws of grand adventure. You can also run this adventure with up to six players, though the game might take a little longer to complete.”

The free 21-page PDF includes the adventure, six pre-generated first level characters, and a quick reference rules sheet. The Pathfinder 2nd Edition Core Rulebook is listed as a requirement to play (along with the usual maps, dice, tokens, minis, pawns, etc.) but a link was also included to the Pathfinder 2nd Edition SRD.

If you like players complaining about getting one-shotted as soon a monster crits, you should run this... /s

(I would have thought a scenario specifically designed to draw in newcomers would avoid enemies higher in level than the heroes... you know, so they don't walk away with the feeling "I was one-shotted through pure bad luck, I did nothing wrong"...)

I would have thought that they would have included Amiri to show an impressive crit result on the players hand.

I'm not planning on critting the players (at least not with the ogre), just demoing the game. That's the beauty of rolling behind the screen

It does seem an odd choice. They have so many first edition adventures and encounters they could have updated..... Which, really, seems like it might be a good way to pull in people that want to try the game before switching.

I thought it would be more like the Free RPG Day adventures. Alas.

The Free RPG Day mods are all 3-4 hour adventures, not quite a simple easy intro game.

This is set up to give a taste of the new system without having the players invest too much time: "Sit down for 30 minutes while I show you how this works!"

I can do a half dozen of these on a Saturday afternoon or Sunday at the FLGS

Have to agree that keeping the rolls on that ogre hidden is a good idea. I also find it kind of surprising that they even suggest adding more monsters to that fight for more players. Maybe you could have the ogre just try to trip people a lot as a fun way to change up its tactics.
