I DID ask for a clarification!!!!!! You called my question snarky and doubled down on calling it that and then called me a liar when I again asked for clarification a second time! Are you having a bad week or something?

I STILL HAVE NO IDEA WHAT YOU WERE REFERRING TO. THIS IS NOT SNARK. I AM BEING SERIOUS WITH YOU. THE GUY YOU REPLIED TO ALSO DIDN'T KNOW WHAT YOU MEANT AND TOLD YOU HE ASSUMED THE SAME THING I ASSUMED. IT'S NOT US MY MAN, IT'S YOU. YOU ARE NOT COMMUNICATING WHAT YOU THINK YOU ARE COMMUNICATING.

You told me to go back through the responses between and I did that and I still have no idea what you are referring to. Mage hand? Disguise Self? What the heck were you talking about and why are you so adamant that we know what you're talking about even after being repeatedly told by multiple people we don't?
Okay, calm down a bit.
@doctorbadwolf was referring to Expertise, from Practiced Expert.

Yeah I finally got that. In the edit. Thank you for the clarification. I was upset because he outright called me a liar for not knowing what he was talking about. I didn't see until later that he's having a rough time on the front lines of retail during Covid-19. That makes a lot more sense to me, and PM'ed him about it.

That sucks. I'm lucky, I don't have to go work during the pandemic.

But they can't get it on the same level that rogues can, especially scout rogues. Also, the rogue is benefitted more from this feat than the ranger, as the ranger already had access to hunter's mark, a fighting style, shields, and so on. Both classes are winners in this UA, but rogues are bigger winners.

Sure, they won't have spells, but that comes down to what makes a ranger be a ranger, and I don't think we (or mostly everyone here) will agree on this, so maybe it's best to drop it.
Rangers were the big winners in the Class Variants UA. For example getting concentrationless Hunter's Mark. I wonder if this UA is springing off that one.

I mean, yeah, Rangers are great in that UA, and I hope they keep those changes. Rogues didn't really need any fixes from that UA, and gain access to a ton of stuff they didn't have easy access to beforehand from this UA.

So apparently you meant Practiced Expert. Which was not, in any way shape or form, obvious. And, as AcerakTriple6 points out, it doesn't make much sense. Which might be why neither of us assumed that. Because it doesn't do the only thing you said it does, which is allow rangers to gain the only thing the rogue has that the ranger doesn't.
I agree. Sure, they can get Expertise, but as long as they're a non-human/half-human, they're not going to get anything more than just one Expertise proficiency. For Rangers taking this feat, they're probably going to take Stealth or Survival, or possibly Perception. A rogue is much less limited with this, taking 6 proficiencies this way, having Stealth, Survival, Perception, Nature, Thieves' Tools, and probably Sleight of Hands (Sure, a few of these have nothing to do with being a ranger, but the point is that rangers don't get the "one thing that rogues get that rangers don't already have").

If you think someone is speaking in bad faith, isn't it better to disengage rather than make a multi-post scene through the thread over what really ought to be a small thing?
I think the premise that a “scene” was made is false, first of all.

Secondly, absolutely not. Calling out bad faith arguments is better than disengaging without calling it out. Shutting down such call outs for the sake of “avoiding a scene” or “promoting civil discussion” is ethically wrong.

1) it was a good faith argument, and 2) I sent you a PM.
