From Mordenkainen's Manual of the Maltreated and Morally Misunderstood
Mind Flayer
Mind Flayers are creatures most deserving of pity. They were unlucky enough to be born (against their will and subject to the cruel lottery of birth) in the Far Realm. They were inculcated with disturbing values, including the Doctrine of Brain-Mastication and More Unholy Tentacles are Better than One. Though vile and hideous, these tortured souls deserve the respect of all murderhoboing adventurers. Mind flayer are victims of systemic oppression and unequal education. To slay a mind flayer - or worse yet a mind flayer baby - is a undeserved act of outrageous evil. All Monster Lives Matter!Mind Flayer Lives Matter!
