D&D 5E 3 Classic Settings Coming To 5E?

On the D&D Celebration – Sunday, Inside the D&D Studio with Liz Schuh and Ray Winninger, Winninger said that WotC will be shifting to a greater emphasis on settings in the coming years.

This includes three classic settings getting active attention, including some that fans have been actively asking for. He was cagey about which ones, though.

The video below is an 11-hour video, but the information comes in the last hour for those who want to scrub through.

Additionally, Liz Schuh said there would be more anthologies, as well as more products to enhance game play that are not books.

Winninger mentioned more products aimed at the mainstream player who can't spend immense amount of time absorbing 3 tomes.

Ray and Liz confirmed there will be more Magic: The Gathering collaborations.

I don’t think we’re measuring the success of game product lines on the quality of spin-off movies here.
Nope, but popularity? That late 2E early 3E phase, FR became even more of a behemoth due to Baldur's Gate, Icewind Dale and Neverwinter Nights basically extending its reach out from the RPG space to gamers. Don't forget how popular some of these were, the modern Githzerai are the way they are purely because of Planescape: Torment

Dragonlance didn't have a similar push. Completely fine sourcebooks, especially given some of 3E missteps, but FR just became an all-consuming behemoth during this time

Its one chance to have any attempt at regaining that lost ground against FR was, well, the spin off movie. They needed something to push out to a new audience, just like the novels had originally. But.... It got the animated series.

But then the animated cartoon came out and ah.

Y e a h.... I do feel for Dragonlance but that sort of, torpedoed its big media push at the time
I don't think the movie hurt the product line. People quickly forgot about it. It was more an opportunity squandered, just like the Airbender film was just...unfortunate. But we still got The Legend of Korra, and Avatar: The Last Airbender is more popular than ever.

I bought a lot of the 3e Dragonlance stuff. It was some of the best roleplaying products I have ever seen. I think a Dragonlance book for 5e, whatever that looks like (setting, an anthology of the classics) would be great. And with Joe Manganiello pushing the setting, who knows?

In the spirit of rampant speculation I'd like to see:

Mystara - with a focus on the Known World (still one of the better implementations of nations with complex relations to one another more than 'us good, dem bad') and a reset to AC1000, but with the Hollow World properly implemented.

Spelljammer.

Birthright.

and yes, I know that there is almost no chance that these will be the three settings.

Getting lost in fantasy maps
Yeah, we gotta keep the number of Magic books equal to actual D&D settings at least, obviously.

When are we getting that Battleship sourcebook?
It might also be the reverse, the coming D&D-inspired Magic set was referenced. I can see Dark Sun inspiring a Magic set.

Sadira’s Sun Magic and preservers for white.
Dead Lands necromancy and defiling for Black.
Cerulean mages and psionics for Blue
Life shapers and druids for Green
Dragon Magic for Red

Dragonlance is too vanilla so I don't think it will be one of them.
Dark Sun is too hardcore and grimdark so I don't think that one will be included too.
Spelljammer maybe? Space-faring fantasy is neat.
Also Lorwyn > Eldraine so I hope for a Lorwyn setting book.
