D&D 3E/3.5 Help with some 3.5 resources

Hi everyone. I feel like Jim Anchower from the Onion, saying "Hola, amigos. I know it's been a long time since I rapped at ya!" and it has.

I'm going to be joining a 3.5 game of Shackled City, on Roll20. It has been a long time since I've played it, but I still have all my books. Just wondering on a few things:

First is there a good character builder? I'm so spoiled by 4e+ and their computer character builder options, can you help me out?

Second, does anyone have any good 3.5 resources for Roll20? My GM is building some things by hand, and I always want to help out.

Finally, I'm interested in finding some of the old guides, especially the spell building guides. Any idea where they landed?

Thanks for any help you can give me, and it's good to be back again.

I'm not sure about a character builder or roll20. I still get a thrill out of making characters by hand, so I've never looked too deeply at online builders or VTTs.

Insofar as guides go, one that comes immediately to mind is Goodman Games' Power Gamer's 3.5 Wizard Strategy Guide. It focuses purely on the 3.5 Core Rules, and is a good walk-through for building the basic kind of wizard you want. Likewise for the Power Gamer's 3.5 Warrior Strategy Guide.

"Good" character builder for 3.5 is an oxymoron. There were a couple that lasted until about mid-3.5, but I don't know if they're still around to be found - e-tools was the official product, but it seems to be long gone (and wasn't very good in the first place).

Herolab looks like it is the only one still in existence that supports 3.5, but may only support SRD level data (there may be repositories for official material, but they certainly can't be mentioned here because they're unlicensed).

On Roll20, maps and counters are the easiest to import and are generally not edition dependent; a quick google search or using the search in Roll20 will find a treasure trove of tokens and maps - a little bit of practice can have you importing it with ease. Sorry I can't help with actual creature stats or specific module fare though. Though if you check Roll20's marketplace, I feel the cost of the prepared stuff to generally be worth the cost (for adventures).

We found the character sheet to be a bit clunky. pathguy has had a character generator forever. Easily googled. I am guessing the SRD has the section for creating your own spells from what ever dmg that came from. Or was it from unearthed arcana?
