The new Stranger Things season 4 promo video dropped with a cool quick scene of their D&D game! Not much to see but the old classic pitted dice. Anyone have a clue about the minis depicted?
Pfft. Is that supposed to be 1980s-era D&D as played by 1980s-era teenagers?
There are limits even to suspension of disbelief you know..It is real 80s D&D played by real 80s teenagers, in much the same as they are being beset by a real 80s-era extraplanar eldritch horror, and defending themselves with real 80s-era psionic powers...
Oh! Same! My first "campaign" (as opposed to Scout Camp-O-Ree one-shots), buying and painting our own mini was the price of admission. This would have been sometime between 90 and 92, I'm sure.As an 80s middle schooler we had miniatures. Poorly painted, but we had them. I think I got my first chessex vinyl Matt around 92 or 93 but I am not sure when they were invited My first "campaign," aroung 91-92,
That's where the show lost me... The Eldritch horrors look nothing like the Eldritch horrors that used to haunt me in the 80's...It is real 80s D&D played by real 80s teenagers, in much the same as they are being beset by a real 80s-era extraplanar eldritch horror, and defending themselves with real 80s-era psionic powers...
I started in '84 and that's how we've always played. Maps and minis from day one.Pfft. Is that supposed to be 1980s-era D&D as played by 1980s-era teenagers? That's a full-fledged battlemat with real minis! Where's the M&Ms and graph paper?
