2000AD Gargarax

Hi everyone.

One of the personal fave case files of Judge Anderson was the Possessed story arc of the cunning and dangerous demon Gargarax duping a coven of witches into summoning him to Mega City One. Possessing Hammy Blish in the Ed Poe block the psychic entity's intent is to lead a demonkin incursion into the world of mortals.

However Judge Cassandra thwarts the demon who falls from the steps carved into the side of a mountainous crag leading to the demon keep within Gargarax' home dimension. What if Gargarax endured and plots his revenge?

So this is what I converted from the old Mongoose 'Rookie's Guide to Psi Talent' (please excuse the format, its from a spreadsheet so have attached it in word format), added some telekinetic abilities due to panels in the progs seem to either suggest he is telekinetic.

Psychic Entity: As a demon Gargarax is immune to mind-influencing effects, poison, paralysis, stunning and disease. Nor is he subject to critical hits, called shots or death from massive damage. He is however susceptible to silver, taking double damage from silver weapons.

Life Sense: Can sense living creatures within 30’.

Possession: Gargarax is incredibly strong in possessing weaker minds of mortals, dominating the host body. The demon may attempt to possess a target, forcing the intended victim to make a MENTAL DEFENCE check with a -4 penalty. Such victims can do nothing while Gargarax is in control except remain mutely aware of their predicament. An exorcism is required to remove the possessing entity.

Pyrokine: Gargarax has both Flaming Touch and Pyrokinetic Blast Psychic powers.

[Flaming Touch (PSI 2, taken from O.LD. Fantasy Heroic RPG): Touch becomes hot enough to injure others, causing an additional 1D6 HEAT Damage beyond natural damage.]

Sense Psionics [PSI 2, Metapsionics]: Sense the presence of Psionics within 30’.

Telekinetic: Gargarax may use Summon and Telekinesis psionic powers

Just a tourist passing your way...
A psionic demon - oh my...
As I'm not into the world of 2000AD, I cannot say anything about your converting skills, but as a WOIN gm, I can say it sounds like a hard enemy.

I'd drop the PP cost, enemies should do whatever they're able to ;-)
Also, there are no defense checks...

Personally, I have a hard time about possession in WOIN; it seems to be a certain character Killer and most groups aren't able to do anything like an exorzism...
I simply don't use it so far, but grant enemies additional exploits. My wife hates stop right here 😂 especially at enemies with reach 😉

How do you handle possession?

Possession I usually handle as occurring to NPC's normally, in the case of pc's I allow them to at least make a check/save as though against mind control.

In the case of a PC at risk of being possessed, I would treat it as it blacking out, and then have the pc's to round as if solving a crime. Eventually when it becomes apparent that maybe one of them is possessed after a series of events have both the exorcists/psi division intervene, followed by exorcism judges. Kind of like an old AD&D 2e Davenport scenario where one of the pc's were actually possessed and assaulted in a whodunit style. mystery.
