So I guess it will be more like a Bestiary #2? Tasha is PHB#2 and Xanathar DMG#2 ?
MM4.
XGTE is PHB2, TCOE is PHB3. Yes, there's some DM-facing stuff, but most of the bonus rules content is stuff that could've been printed in the combat and adventuring chapters of the PHB.
VGTM and MTOF are MM2/MM3, as the racial entries are pretty incidental and not a new strategy - most monster manuals of past editions had playable race versions of the new critters.

They did? I seem to recall that started in 4e but I could be wrong. Genuinely curious now, I know 3.0 didn't have that as the idea of playable monster races came with the FRCS and ECL and Savage Species but I don't recall the 3.5 era MMs having playable monster races in them but I could have overlooked it. I know Pathfinder did it though but it has/had some very different rules for higher powered races.

Yep, the 3.5 Monster Manual has a number of monsters as PC options, which also found their way into the 3.5 SRD. Monster Manual III, IV, and V also have some monsters as PC options.

Thank you, I didn't get any Monster Manuals after the third one I think it was so I wasn't 100%. Now I am more curious LOL. That Fiend Folio was lit though. God I loved 3e and am still sad I got so burned out on it in 2007.

Honestly with all the new statblocks updated I care far more about getting updated monster cards rather than books. Those things are a godsend when running a fight with multiple monsters and until I get the new statblocks in that form I'm significantly less likely to them.
