D&D 5E YOU are pitching the next big WotC Adventure. What is it???

Yeah. really lay it out. Like, have a blacksmith. He needs supplies that have been stolen by bandits. If the bandits are defeated, supply lines get opened up and besides an initial reward to the PCs, going forward, new goods are available.

D&D 5E YOU are pitching the next big WotC Adventure. What is it???

I'd love a proper hub style story, where you start out with some central location, have it start off as a real fixer-upper. As the PCs complete tasks, they unlock features and resources.

D&D General Not Railroad, Not Sandbox ... What else is there?

I feel we are ships passing in the night on this one. Y'all do you. Game on.

D&D General Not Railroad, Not Sandbox ... What else is there?

Gating choices is exactly what I described in my post.

D&D General Not Railroad, Not Sandbox ... What else is there?

A choice that has no legitimate chance of success is not a choice.

D&D General Not Railroad, Not Sandbox ... What else is there?

From the OP, highlighted for emphasis. SANDBOX: A player driven storytelling technique in which the DM presents options, but players drive the direction of the game towards whatever goals they wish. To be a sandbox under this definition, the DM can't redirect the party with barriers constructed...

D&D General Not Railroad, Not Sandbox ... What else is there?

Similar to some of the things here is the "Zelda" method. In this, players are given options, but limited options. But completing goals given by said options unlock new options. These new options can be foreshadowed before being unlocked. Leveling itself is a Zelda method lock after a sense. PCs...

D&D General I hate pdfs, and I'm happy that WOTC primarily publishes Books

I like owning physical media. I will settle for PDF if physical media is either not readily available or the price point is to high based on how much use it will get from me. So I do have a few books that I am likely to unload sometime in the near future, in part to make space for new books...

    Sunday Nonsense: Elevator Pitches

It could have been just me as the GM. Fate may not be my forte.

    Sunday Nonsense: Elevator Pitches

The Pitch: Swansgrave. Think Hogwarts set in Lovecraft Country. Five houses. Elder Alien Gods. Training wizards to fight for reality against the Outer Dark. I ran already with Fate, with mixed results.

The Dungeons and Dragons film: Calls for shameless fan service

Kids, if you aren't in this thread to participate in the premise, why are you here? I get it. I want the film to be good to. But let's look at comic movies. The ones that work best are ones that balance embracing the source material while using the medium of film to tell stories only a film can...

The Dungeons and Dragons film: Calls for shameless fan service

That is not guaranteed. What is for certain is that there will be fan service.

The Dungeons and Dragons film: Calls for shameless fan service

As it says on the tin. What shameless fan service would you want in the upcoming DnD film if you had the power to make it happen? I want a Boba Fett level of relevance to the proceedings appearance by Warduke.

D&D General how are stories infused with a race?

Another way to make a fantasy race stand out are unique resources, goods, and skills. Elves having access to magical skill and training others lack or Dwarves being smiths of supernatural ability are possible. You can also just have a given people inhabit lands that's the sole source of a...

Let's Talk About Fantasy heartbreaks and other FRPGs

Warhammer Fantasy. I liked the career system. But like many, DnD has always done the job fine to great for me, so really I only explored other RPGs when they dealt with other genres.

D&D 5E List of All 33 Races in Mordenkainen's Monsters of the Multiverse

I havent seen this myself. Could you point out a source or explain a bit more? My issue is that the spell resistance that Yuan Ti and Satyrs have is too strong for PCs to have baseline for me.

D&D General How am I a D&D outlier? How are you one?

I've been playing since 1st ed, have abandoned each edition when its been replaced with a new one, and unequivocally feel 5th is the best incarnation of the game.

D&D 5E List of All 33 Races in Mordenkainen's Monsters of the Multiverse

Bummer. I was hoping that Spell resistance would be removed, as it prevents me permitting it as a PC race in my games.
