D&D General Goodman Games To Reincarnate Jennell Jaquays' Caverns of Thracia

I'd like to add (without spoilers) that it has some of the Old School "uniqueness" without feeling goofy. Original, unique creatures; areas with special rules; an interesting history for the entire dungeon that you can uncover as you explore; some very memorable (and cinematic) encounters with...

    Thundercats/Phantasy Star - Recommend me a System

You need vehicle rules, sci-fi, fantasy, magic, robots, animal people. The only thing I'm thinking is Rifts, preferably the Savage Worlds version.

OSR Interested in dipping my toe into OSR but don’t know where to start. Any recommendations?

The roll under idea is what you just explained. If it's your main stat, it's a DC 12 (plus mods) or otherwise it's DC 18 (plus mods). Roll under that target. The goal posts depend on which character instead of a simple bonus that can be added to a d20 roll. Like, just give characters a bonus...

    D&D General Jennell Jaquays Appreciation

It's so good to see her past works getting lifted out of the pit of controversy and back into print. I'm also pleased to see there are more products forthcoming.

D&D General Goodman Games To Reincarnate Jennell Jaquays' Caverns of Thracia

Maybe you can split the set with someone who doesn't want the 5e book? Sell them on the secondary market or something?

D&D General Goodman Games To Reincarnate Jennell Jaquays' Caverns of Thracia

That's a good point. It could be that WotC is hesitant to license out IP when 5.5 is right around the corner. However, I'm still good with what we're getting for now. I'll put these two from Jacquays up there with some of the better TSR adventures from that era.

D&D General Goodman Games To Reincarnate Jennell Jaquays' Caverns of Thracia

Very excited to see this one and so happy Goodman is bringing us a way to get these classics (since they're no longer on DriveThru). And thanks @darjr for making the thread. I saw the news about 2 minutes before my game went live last night and didn't have time to make a proper post.

New Bill to Limit Copyright to 56 Years, Would be Retroactive

Last I counted the Ottawa Senators have 25 players on their roster. And now that their hockey season has ended, anything is possible. They could carry the deciding votes.

DCC Level 0 Character Funnel is a Bad Concept

I guess my disconnect comes from what "OSR" and "classic gaming" means to me. I did not come of age in the Gygax era. My first D&D rulebook was the AD&D 2nd edition PHB, and I didn't really get deep into the hobby until the mid-90s. In my group during that era, a character death was something...

TSR Am I The Only One Buying Up the DMs Guild Reprints?

I'm sorry to hear about that flood. I never really thought of it as a megadungeon (even though it's on the box). It feels more like a subterranean sandbox with several factions involved. Lots of overworld stuff going on too. My interest in it is mostly academic, since it's considered a classic...

DCC Level 0 Character Funnel is a Bad Concept

Yeah, but in this case it's random stat generation, random HP, random classes, and random chance of survivability. If everything is that random, I'd rather just drop a few Plinko chips on the Price is Right and let Bob Barker tell me what character I'm playing. In the case of the funnel I...

DCC Level 0 Character Funnel is a Bad Concept

Agreed. I had a bad experience and had some holdover gripes from that game when I made the OP. While I don't want to tell anyone they're having "badwrongfun" I can say that the experience I had with the the funnel at the con game was badly run and poorly implemented. The game was so bad that I...

TSR Am I The Only One Buying Up the DMs Guild Reprints?

Of the DMs Guild reprints, I've purchased a few. 1) The Rules Cyclopedia (to see what the hubbub is all about) 2) The Gamma World rule book and adventures (it was priced to move, and I had enjoyed the 4E version of that game) 3) The Night Below (I have the original boxed set, but I wanted to...

    D&D 5E Good Lord - I'm Taking Over 20+ Teen D&D Players

I went to the WotC site and DMsGuild, where they're all sort of lumped together. Those organized run times would be handy.

    D&D 5E Good Lord - I'm Taking Over 20+ Teen D&D Players

I have suggested it to the new DMs but when a single video can last 3+ hours, it's hardly good for a "crash course" in DMing. I also pointed them in the direction of Matt Colville's Running the Game series, which I think is more focused on advice.

Seth Green gets scammed out of his NFT and it tanks his new show.

Since I don't understand NFTs, all I can say is that it's a shame that a creative person's IP has been taken from them, which is preventing them from working on a project. I get that NFTs seem ridiculous to many of us here, but I can't help but think about when my (ex)wife deleted my writing...

    Million Dollar TTRPG Kickstarter Club

I do support writers and products for systems I don't play. I'm not a fan of Dungeon Crawl Classics (like, at all - it's pretty much anathema to my tastes) and I haven't played a Goodman Games adventure since 3.5. But I do like owning their OAR line for the history and nostalgia, and I...
