I can’t believe you left this guy if the list!

Wildemount: Most Pre-orders Since D&D Core Rulebooks

Well, for cash plus stock, naturally! Then they can go off and create another IP money generator, or simply sit back and count their money. My point is: selling the IP could just mean someone else steers and cranks the handle, it doesn’t stop them benefiting from the success of the IP.

Wildemount: Most Pre-orders Since D&D Core Rulebooks

To my mind, that is the fundamental problem in how WotC bungled the D&D movies. D&D (a set of rules) is not an IP in the same way that Dragon Lance (a series of stories) or even Forgotten Realms (a set of lore and histories) would be. They should have tried converting the more popular books...

Wildemount: Most Pre-orders Since D&D Core Rulebooks

It might be a bad thing from a WotC perspective. Hasbro seem to see the world in terms of brand IP multi-media potential, so the reason they like D&D is brand recognition and the ability to spin that into licensed games, films, TV series etc. The ‘Toys that made us’ series is very interesting in...

    The Dungeon Book of Battlemaps

I emailed them to ask if they might do a hex version, since I play games based on that standard, too. It’s not currently on their roadmap, unfortunately.

    The Dungeon Book of Battlemaps

These are fab, mine arrived just before Christmas. I order the new double set, plus two of the small books. Here they are with the previously bought Giant book:

ZEITGEIST WOIN availability (and a general OLD question)

With the new version of WOIN I was wondering if there were plans for a version of Zeitgeist? I see the first module seems to have a version? The campaign world seemed to be a good fit for the system (by design, I’m sure)

Help Me Understand the GURPS Design Perspective

Rolemaster was our game-of-choice for years, across both Second Edition and Standard Edition. The longest running campaign I have ever played in is still a RM campaign. So I am well aware of its strengths and quirks. Comparing any attempt to run supers with RM versus GURPS is meaningless. The...

Help Me Understand the GURPS Design Perspective

Fixed that for you :) I jest, but my group simply bounce off HeroQuest, Fate, Cortex+ and other games with a strong narrative viewpoint as opposed to a (for want of a better word...) simulationist view point. So, for my group GURPS with its limitations would be a better super hero system than...

Help Me Understand the GURPS Design Perspective

This is the key, in my opinion. Super hero comics usually pit heroes again ‘appropriate’ enemies, which works fine in isolation but really stretches credibility when put into a more flexible RPG context. ‘What would happen if Superman went berserk in Batman’ is a non-question in the comics, as...

Help Me Understand the GURPS Design Perspective

You can also have variable power pools and ‘gizmo’ gadgets. Flexible and adaptive powers can be had in GURPS. To be sure, the Supers genre pushes GURPS hard, and you need to apply quite a few optional rules to make it work. Other systems are a more natural fit, but if you aren’t playing Supers...

So, I hate pdfs. Any advice on hating them less?

Have you tried using a top end device for an extended period of time (as opposed to a few minutes in the Apple Store)?

What "mainstream" RPG tie-ins are there?

To be fair, it was done with the approval of WotC, so may not strictly meet your criteria...

So, I hate pdfs. Any advice on hating them less?

Last weekend I ran a 10-hour gaming session fully from my iPad. Rule book, adventure notes, scratch notes. Completely paper free.

my players told me what they want in a rpg for the next campaign

For sure, that was what I was meaning when I said it isn’t really about dishing damage. It’s more about buffs, de-buffs and creative stuff.

my players told me what they want in a rpg for the next campaign

Lots of recommendations for GURPS / GURPS Dungeon Fantasy and I came to recommend the same. GURPS gives lots of option to ’regular’ characters in combat. We are about 60 hours into a Dungeon Fantasy campaign and have a party with a swashbuckler, martial artist, knight, wizards and cleric. The...

So, I hate pdfs. Any advice on hating them less?

GoodReader. I’ve used it since the very first iPad and found it excellent. Other people swear by PDFExpert, which is also good but has different strengths. Here’s a link: https://apps.apple.com/gb/app/goodreader-pdf-editor-viewer/id777310222

So, I hate pdfs. Any advice on hating them less?

My point is to show the art of the possible. Many people think PDFs are clunky and cumbersome. But that is because they have only used cheap or outdated hardware.

So, I hate pdfs. Any advice on hating them less?

you can flip pages :) And for context, that’s a 338 page PDF, with another four open at the same time. Beefy hardware can do a lot.
