5E Eberron: Rising from the Last War Previews

I’m seeing a lot of gun in those pictures and not very much wand. I think I’m going to give this book a hard pass. I’ve already got 3e and 4e’s version of this book. I don’t really need a 3rd.

5E New Cover for Eberron: Rising from the Last War

Its been 11 years, I think WotC has had ample opportunity to recalibrate expectations. God knows I make sure to have none when looking at 5e products.

5E New Cover for Eberron: Rising from the Last War

Its WotC. Your first mistake was having expectations.

5E New Eberron Book Details From WotC

Considering Keith Baker’s thoughts on guns in Eberron, I’ll be interested to see if they actually go so far as to include firearms.

5E New Eberron Book Details From WotC

Meh. Can’t say I’m a fan of podcasts for the most part. But thanks for the summary. Will look forward to see what’s actually published in the Eberron setting book.

5E New Eberron Book Details From WotC

Except that this posits the gods did objectively exist which again is something previous editions have avoided doing (at least, that was my interpretation of the material). I guess it will depend what’s in the book vs Crawford (or whoever) spouting off stuff for podcasts off the top of their...

5E New Eberron Book Details From WotC

One of the things that made Eberron notable is there was no knowledge if the gods existed. I see 5e is doing its classic “let’s ignore/rewrite canon”. Like I said before: WotC doesn’t care about canon. So no one else should.

5E New Eberron Book Details From WotC

It point blank doesn’t. Given your now reduced to basically saying “nuh uh” I’m going to leave this thread. I’ve said my piece and I don’t see how any further discussion with you will be enlightening. Enjoy your games and happy gaming! If you are trying to claim I did this then I think your...

5E New Eberron Book Details From WotC

DMG makes it clear certain settings (and Eberron is included in the list) diverge substantially from the default. To try to claim that Eberron’s default is the core D&D default is not only controversial, but contradicted by the books themselves. Now Wayfinder’s has suggestions on how to bring it...

not at all. You do whatever makes your game more enjoyable :) all I said was it wasn’t for me.

5E New Eberron Book Details From WotC

I have all sorts of homebrew in my campaigns. I just don’t try to claim it’s the default.

5E New Eberron Book Details From WotC

Okay. So it’s ultra important to you (for whatever reason) that your take on the core setting be default. Cool story bro. I think I’ll stick with what’s in the Eberron setting books when I play in Eberron. Maybe if I was going to set a game in this core default setting you mention I’d do it...

5E New Eberron Book Details From WotC

Its the Eberron setting as outlined in the Eberron setting book. It seems really important to you that your One True Way be acknowledged as the “default”. Is there any particular reason for that?

5E New Eberron Book Details From WotC

From the Wayfinder’s Guide Sure seems like a setting to me. From the 5e DMG Yup. Settings still seem to be a thing. But it doesn’t have to be at your table of course. No “One True Way”. Right?

5E New Eberron Book Details From WotC

Lol. Maybe at your table. But I’ve got 3 editions worth of books that tell me otherwise when it comes to Eberron. So i’m Going to stick with what those say. Feel free to play in your non setting.

5E New Eberron Book Details From WotC

Sure. Eberron has always had suggestions on how to use material. Pretty sure it was in the 4e ECG as well. I mean it’s pretty clearly not canon with stuff like this “Maybe Tiamat has only just discovered Eberron” because as we all know Tiamat is an Overlord trapped in Khyber in the Eberron...

5E New Eberron Book Details From WotC

Funny. What I saw upthread was quotes like this “The elves of Eberron weren’t created by the gods you may know from other settings”. Seems consistent with the previous editions. I also see a bunch of suggestions on what GMs can homebrew on page 20. Like here’s a quote “if you do want to...

Cool retcon if your playing in planescape I guess? Can’t say I’ve ever really looked that hard into the setting.

5E New Eberron Book Details From WotC

That seems counter to everything I’ve read in my Eberron books. You got a source from an Eberron book on that?
