What are you reading in 2022?

I have started reading The Complete Compleat Enchanter by L Sprague de Camp and Fletcher Pratt. It's a nice hardcover with slipcover version I picked up on my latest Half Price Books trip. And for gaming books, I just got my copy of the Lords of Chaos RPG via DriveThruRPG from a Kickstarter...

What are you reading in 2022?

Currently reading my newly arrived copy of Monster Manual Expanded. Also reading up on Esper Genesis since I'm starting a campaign of that game.

D&D 5E Does Your DM Let Everyone Start With A Feat?

I DM almost exclusively so it's a question of what do I include. In my games I almost never use/allow feats so it's moot. The few games I have used them I only allow them at first level if it's already written that way, i.e. Variant humans

What are you reading in 2022?

I picked up quite a few of Akers books from that series not that long ago from half price books. It's on my reading list. As for my current reading, I just completed a reread of Designers & Dragons the 90s. It's my third time reading the series now and I love revisiting the history of the RPG...

D&D 5E Which common monsters/creature types do you exclude from your campaigns?

I've never used and likely never will use the Tarasque in a game. A lot of monsters and PC races I use or don't use vary with the campaign I'm planning. I generally don't allow Drow, Tiefling, or Dragonborn in a lot of my games because I don't like the assumed flavor they imply. I like my...

D&D 5E Are you buying less 5e Material?

Tasha's and Ravenloft killed my interest in WOTCs D&D 5e output. I am buying/kick-starting quite a bit of 5e material from 3pp. Especially Kobold Press, Goodman Games, and Nord Games. It's made up the difference if not more so.

TSR Am I The Only One Buying Up the DMs Guild Reprints?

Definitely not! I've been picking them up at a heavy pace myself including various modules, the Gazetteer series for Mystara, and various campaign settings.

What are you reading in 2022?

I'm a big fan of Warpstar and it's fantasy sibling Warlock. Glad to see some love for it here.

D&D 5E Monster Manual Expanded II Second Edition News and Updates

I agree regarding WOTC's decision s with monster changes. They already removed far too many spell casting capabilities from monsters compared to previous editions. I'm glad I have my POD copies of the Monster Manual Expanded books even if I do plan on repurchasing the new versions to support...

    Games with "terrible" follow-up editions

I feel that same sentiment can be applied to the entire GURPS line. When it came to setting/history/research purposes their books are phenomenal. I regularly use my GURPS books as reference material for just about any RPG I run even though I rarely use them for GURPS games at this point.

    Games with "terrible" follow-up editions

Same. I still have a large library of 3e books and pick up more when I find interesting ones used. Never made the jump to 4e as I wasn't really playing much GURPS around the time they transitioned.

    Games with "terrible" follow-up editions

This was in third edition. Funnily enough I saw several of those 3e GURPS WOD books last time I visited my local used bookstore.

    Games with "terrible" follow-up editions

Yeah, GURPS has always been a good realistic to cinematic level game but not good for really high power stuff like Supers. I remember reading an article in Pyramid back in the day where they were talking about statting out Vampires and Werewolves from World of Darkness for the upcoming GURPS WOD...

    Games with "terrible" follow-up editions

The 20th Anniversary Edition was definitely a major upgrade compared to the original 4th edition printing. It's been a while since I reread the monochrome version but from what I recall the rules were largely consistent but the errata was included as well as more content, better examples and...

    Games with "terrible" follow-up editions

I know DQ still has a loyal fanbase online. I wonder if a retroclone version of the rules system would be possible. It would be nice to have a way for the rules to be available to new players. 2nd Edition is my favorite for design/style/lore. I found 4th edition to have the most playable...

Looks great and so does the new Patreon! Just backed and loving Mays release. I need to make a monster binder to house these.
