D&D 5E Dragons of Stormwreck Isle: New D&D Starter Set Is Coming This Year

Will this be the set that transitions us into 5.5e or whatever they are calling this "totally not a new edition" of D&D?

Roll20's Latest Usage Report: D&D Steady, Cthulhu Down!

These lists always make me wonder if other VTTs like Foundry skew different as more of a community uses it over roll20 for certain rpgs.

Mapping It All Out (With Help)

I'm a big fan of the Hexxers dry erase grid boards. They are white with black lines and don't have actual maps, but with some dry erase pens they are perfect for mapping out situations.

Webbed Sphere, Inc. acquires long time game publisher Flying Buffalo, Inc.

Webbed Sphere, Toy Vault and Troll and Toad are all out of Kentucky, so hopefully this is a good thing for folks like me here in KY!

D&D 5E Fizban's Treasury of Dragons: Dragon+ Detailed Outline and Descriptions

I've often wondered if they would have a problem with someone putting in Thunder Rift as a mini-setting that can be put anywhere. I'm just glad they put all the player facing information that you'll have to reference in the front of the book instead of buried somewhere in the middle.

    Gift Ideas for Players

I've always gotten my tokens and markers for battlemaps from LITKO Game Accessories which has some interesting mounted tokens too.

News Digest for the Week of September 11

Tigtone is hilariously zany and I'm glad they made that book.

    HeroQuest returning?

Heroquest was a joint venture between MB and GW originally, Hasbro owning MB at that time. They might have the rights to reprint the game as much as they want? Either way I'm excited as this was the game that got me further down the rabbit hole of gaming back then.

    VTTs Feel the Strain

Although I know it feels a bit dated compared to the others I'll reiterate that in these times is when a program like Maptools excels because it is hosted on a machine you or a player owns, not dependent on a server somewhere else. This cuts down on the reliance of a swamped server and makes it...

Playing Virtually? Don't Miss These Deals

Maptools by RPtools has always been free and keeps getting better. RPTools I believe it's also one of the oldest and doesn't use a cloud but your own pc for hosting.

WotC World Reveal of Baldur's Gate 3

I'm all for turn based over some sort of hybrid pausable real time. I also like that they seem to be using a lot more than we've seen in the past of the actual rules, though it'll take some time to iron those out I'm sure. There are lots of turn based games that have done very well, this will...

OD&D DMs Guild Treasures: 5 BECMI Modules That Deserve the Big Book Treatment

I think there is if the thoughts in the intro were expanded upon and it was set in the pseudo setting it had that was placed in Mystara. The lands around the Palace could easily be expanded upon with new updates and whatnot. Honestly though? I'd rather have re-edits and formats of the old...

'DC Universe All Star Games' Is A New RPG Show Featuring Freddie Prinze Jr and Sam Witwer

Xavier is a regular now of the PAX Acquisitions Incorporated games on stage, playing a Barbarian for a fondness of cheese named Bobby Zimmeruski and has become a fan favorite. Also a WWE wrestling favorite under the name Xavier Woods. Clare Grant is Seth Green's wife and has done several...

'DC Universe All Star Games' Is A New RPG Show Featuring Freddie Prinze Jr and Sam Witwer

Freddie and Sam are both voice acting alums from the Star Wars animated universe, Freddie also has been streaming on twitch for quite a while now. I think it's interesting that they put this together and given the other members it should be an entertaining watch.

Explore Far Distant Worlds in the Traveller Core Rulebook

So if they are anything like me it's all about the confusing editions like a lot of games I've heard are good but have gone through multiple companies. Like I know enough from casual encounters to know that there is original Traveller, then it went to Mongoose, then somewhere else? When you...

    D&D 1E Dragon Reflections #29

Just given the amount of work David Trampier was doing that year I can see why Wormy got a back seat. From his wikipedia article Cover art and some of the interior illustrations for Gamma World role-playing game (1978). Map board for the wargame Divine Right (1979). Cover art for the Dungeon...

OSR Old-School Essentials and Basic D&D Campaign Building

I've been contemplating adding weapon mastery rules and the old 'simple cantrip' rules for Magic Users to the OSE rules. I love Basic Fantasy RPG too and some of their stuff could easily be added in since it is pretty similar.

OSR Old-School Essentials and Basic D&D Campaign Building

If you end up running any old TSR adventures with it Charles it'd be neat to see a write up on that and how it handles it. Also how well it runs when using Ascending AC instead of thac0. It's neat and I plan on using it for a few things myself.
