OGL WotC Backs Down: Original OGL To Be Left Untouched; Whole 5E Rules Released as Creative Commons

I was basically going to say exactly this but you put it much more colorfully.

44th session of Monte Cook's 3E Banewarrens campaign run with Shadow of the Demon Lord on Owlbear Rodeo. Five player characters at level 8. Dwarf Executioner/Berserker/Warrior. He now wields the sacred Axehammer of the Lost Clan. Elf Librarian/Wizard/Magician. Outcast from elven lands, raised...

D&D General How Was Your Last Session?

45th and 46th sessions of my Dragon Heist/Deck of Many Things mashup. Three player characters at level 9: Half-orc cavalier fighter, halfling swashbuckler rogue, and half-elf evoker wizard/grave cleric. We're getting to the end game -- probably 6-8 sessions remaining. Most of session 45 was the...

OneDnD Lifetime boycott of D&D-branded products?

I'm sure with about 2 minutes of googling I can find an example of a well known Western company who's products (or components) are manufactured with Chinese prison labor. The point stands. The WotC situation is s--tty, but it's not a literal crime against humanity. Regardless, we all get to...

    OGL Congratulations WotC...

To build on my previous point... D&D's content creators are virtually all social media influencers. And a lot of influencers are also content creators. So WotC has turned every D&D influencer against the company in one fell swoop. Kind of an amazing accomplishment if you think about it...

    OGL Congratulations WotC...

I also find myself thinking about what influencers are going to be at the next D&D product roll out. I'm guessing...not many.

OneDnD What happens if One DnD fails?

This whole situation bums me out. 5E is my favorite version of D&D. This is an exciting time to be a fan. OneD&D is built on the same chassis. The future was looking really bright. Now the whole viability of the brand is at risk because of unnecessary corporate overreach. Dumb, Wizards. Dumb.

    OGL Can WotC be forgiven?

If you bought a 5E product, then I presume you already forgave WotC for the 4E GSL. Why not do it again?

OneDnD Lifetime boycott of D&D-branded products?

My wife and I own an Audi. Audi used Nazi slave labor during WWII. Of all the companies I could boycott and all the reasons I should boycott, there is a very long line ahead of Hasbro and Wizard of the Coast.

D&D General Are you jumping ship? What will you be switching to?

I refuse to let some corporate suit ruin my enjoyment of D&D. I currently have 3 active 5E D&D campaigns running. Within the last few years I've played Shadow of the Demon Lord, Night's Black Agents, Star Wars D6, and Marvel Heroic Roleplaying. I have a Twilight: 2000 campaign kicking off this...

D&D General How Was Your Last Session?

43rd and 44th sessions of my Dragon Heist/Deck of Many Things mashup. Half-orc cavalier fighter, halfling swashbuckler rogue, and half-elf evoker wizard/grave cleric. At the end of these sessions, everyone reached Level 9. I'll keep this short as these episodes were played in November and...

WotC WotC job posts now include compensation ranges.

I work in the video game industry. My suspicion is that in recent years WotC's compensation model has shifted from publishing (which pays poorly) to gaming (which pays well). This makes sense as the D&D team's talent is most likely to be poached by video game developers. So WotC needs to pay...

D&D General How Was Your Last Session?

42nd session of Monte Cook's 3E Banewarrens campaign run with Shadow of the Demon Lord on Owlbear Rodeo. Five player characters at Level 7: Dwarf Executioner/Berserker/Warrior. He seeks the Axehammer of the Lost Clan, rumored to be in the Banewarrens. Elf Librarian/Wizard/Magician. Outcast from...

D&D General The D&D We Played in 2022

This year I DM'd three campaigns totaling about 55 sessions. Two are 5E and in both the PCs just reached 9th level and have played about 45 sessions each since starting in 2019. The third is a Shadow of the Demon Lord campaign that started in 2021. Players are 7th level after about 40 sessions...

D&D General How Was Your Last Session?

This is a recap of sessions 42, 43, and 44 of my Neverwinter campaign. Apparently I forgot to recap those! We haven't played much in the last 3 months of the year as I've had a lot of real life conflicts. Three 8th level characters: half-orc vengeance paladin, human genie warlock, drow evoker...

D&D General How Was Your Last Session?

41st session of Monte Cook's 3E Banewarrens campaign run with Shadow of the Demon Lord on Owlbear Rodeo. Another short session, which seems to be common with us during the Holidays. Five player characters at Level 7: Dwarf Executioner/Berserker/Warrior. He seeks the Axehammer of the Lost Clan...
