Dark fantasy is very much my thing, and this sounds like a nice setting. I just might get it to see what it's about. But my go-to game is Shadow of the Demon Lord - and it's going to be hard to compete against that.
Thank you. I studied the kickstarter page a little more. Apparently you have to pledge for a certain amonut (which gets you the Core Book and a pdf of the Starter Set) before your able to get some add-ons (like the Deluxe Rulebook and the die), so I think I'll skip that.
What is a late pledge?
I'm new to backing projects on Kickstarter, so forgive if I ask a dumb questions :)
Is there anyway to back this kickstarter and ONLY get the Deluxe Leatherbound edition of the Rulebook (and perhaps the die). I'm not interested in the Starter Set at all.
I've been eyeing the 1st edition of The One Ring for years, but I never bought nor played it. This looks like a good place to start :)
The artwork looks "fresh" and very nice IMO.
With the latest trends in rpgs, however, I'm a bit worried if they going to make this an rpg in a political correct...
That's basically what's stopping me. I also prefer the artwork to correspond to monster manual artwork (actually I'm basically not a fan of Pathfinder's anime style)
Oh man. This discussion is taking far too much of my time :) I try guys - I really try to see your points. However, I keep coming back to my initial point of view, which I've presented a few times earlier in this thread. I've read and understood your opinions, but I respectfully disagree. I hope...
I don't think anyone is using harmful stereotypes. What culture does orc and drow cultures remind you of?
The only problem I see is that crazy ideas like this, takes the focus away from actual real-life racial issues.
Hey - I'm still mad about the THAC0 thing. Can you be a little sensitive about it please - I'm easily offended :)
I guess I feel like orcs and drow should be monsters. Good orcs and drow should be very rare and outcasts.
Humanity (in all it's forms) should be reserved for humans.
Obviously I'm expressing my personal opinion. You don't need to be elected for that where I come from.
Also, this is part of a longer discussion with another user.
I'm sad, that the d&d mythology is changing, because of something, that is unrelated to the game.
I think a lot of people believe...
I have no evidence off course, but I still don't believe that people are TRULY hurt by the fact that orcs and drow are evil in d&d.
People are truly hurt by watching racist police brutality in a democracy. People are truly hurt by watching homosexuals being persecuted or worse.
People are...
