Playtest Druid and Paladin One D&D survey is live.

To be fair, Spare the Dying in 5E is not a great spell. It does what a heal check should. If dying is clarified that it ends when you get hit points back, but it takes something more to regain consciousness, I think that would be the way to go.

Playtest Druid and Paladin One D&D survey is live.

As I read the changes to dying (stable is not longer a thing), you regain 1 hit point and remain unconscious after death save success. No easy up and down seems to be the intent. The Playtest Spare the Dying only works on a character with the Dying condition. They should clarify the language but...

Playtest Druid and Paladin One D&D survey is live.

The part about letting the druid look in Wild Shape like whatever animal he wants as flavor is fine. The problem with tiny size being 11th level to me is that the advantage of being tiny is not in line with an 11th level ability. Specifically, because the druid can be tiny before 11th level with...

Playtest Druid and Paladin One D&D survey is live.

The medium mount is a good idea. I proposed not having the smite spells be spells at all, just make them higher level variants of Divine smite. and lose the restrictions on spells in the same round. That way, people who want to do Banishing Smite or whatever can do it, the bonus action isn't...

D&D 5E WotC: Why Dark Sun Hasn't Been Revived

What did they call them before? are we not saying demon and devil anymore?

Playtest Druid and Paladin One D&D survey is live.

One of my criticisms of the druid was that at 1st level a character can potentially have a tiny familiar to scout and a druid under the existing rules can cast Polymorph at 7th becoming tiny, swimming or flying. There is no reason to restrict access to higher levels for forms that the druid can...

It says the survey is no longer accepting responses.

D&D 5E WotC: Why Dark Sun Hasn't Been Revived

In a prior edition, I ran a campaign wherein the party in my homebrew world traveled to the world of Athas. They came home and Rajaat the Dragon King appeared in a plot to rule their world. Everyone in the party saw Athas and how bad it was there. They came home determined to stop the villain...

    New Wild Shape

That's entirely possible. but unless the spell level is changing, or other mechanics are radically changing, then being able to have a Swim speed at 4th and a Fly at 8th are not out of balance with what others in the party can potentially do. A Druid can have a familiar at 1st in the playtest...

    New Wild Shape

I should point out my own earlier rules mistake. In 5e The Wild Shaped Druid gets the Hit points and Hit Dice of the creature, not Temporary HP. So, perhaps a tiny Wild Shape should use the druid's current HP, a Small get 5 THP, a medium 10, a large 15 and a huge 20 or a gargantuan 25 if there...

New One D&D Playtest Shows Us The New Druid & Paladin

Agree. In this play test, you can be a wolf, you can even be a wolf that looks like a gorilla as flavor, fine, but you can’t knock the target prone like a wolf without using your bonus action. I recommend that 1. If the Temporary Hit Points are broken, then say, 5thp for a medium beast, 10 for...

    New Wild Shape

IMHO The play test druid is bad design. It takes away the fun of the class. The Druid's iconic ability is to take other forms out of the gate which other classes cannot easily or frequently do until later levels. This is what Druid players want. There is no one who like the idea of the druid not...

New One D&D Playtest Shows Us The New Druid & Paladin

My initial thoughts on the new play test Paladin. (haven't played yet). Where do I begin? It's BAD when it could very simply be made good. Stop it with changing how critical hits work. As written, the extra dice on a Divine Smite wouldn't double on a critical hit, but the dice on a smite spell...

New One D&D Playtest Shows Us The New Druid & Paladin

My initial thoughts on the new play test. (haven't played yet). I like Wildshape at 1st. There never was a good reason for it to wait one level. The changes to how it works are BAD. The template creature ends the argument about can you use that beast? have you ever seen one before? but it also...

D&D 5E WotC: Why Dark Sun Hasn't Been Revived

I might also point out that I have not heard anyone saying, 'We don't want Dark Sun to be published. and if it is, we're switching to Pathfinder.' Apparently, these 'Sensitivity' specialists that WotC hires are telling them that slavery, genocide, racism and cruelty are bad things (spoiler, they...

D&D 5E WotC: Why Dark Sun Hasn't Been Revived

It's true that it's their call as a business, but they seem to think it would be a bad choice for the business even though the setting has been published profitably before in prior editions. Still their call, but if they want to better monetize as they've stated before, they should take a good...

D&D 5E WotC: Why Dark Sun Hasn't Been Revived

These are the people that made an apology for saying that the Hadozee had been slaves. The Hadozee are a fictional race in magical fantasy world that isn't real. They waste time and money on this kind of concern when it's easily resolved by them publishing the content that appeals to the most...

D&D General Is D&D Survey Feedback Read? [UPDATED!]

Agree. That's silly. If draconian governments can't keep criticism of them off the internet, neither can a toy and game company.

D&D General Is D&D Survey Feedback Read? [UPDATED!]

Here here. I have myself tested content and answered every survey and seen my feedback reflected in the revisions. No company will please everyone. There are too many of us with too wide a range of taste in games for everyone's desires to be fulfilled in One D&D. Even if they gave me literally...

Hello, I am lawyer with a PSA: almost everyone is wrong about the OGL and SRD. Clearing up confusion.

So, it seems to me that (with all respect to the publishers affected). If you are not publishing and profiting from content, the only effect will be that there will be less, (maybe no) 3rd party books and suppliments available in One D&D. It doesn't mean that you won't be able to play any way...
