Which of these six is the best H.P. Lovecraft story?

I thought it also would be a useful resource for a modern Delta Green, when you have the guy freaking out and shouting Pleasant Green into the phone because he knows, for some reason, it's an ECHELON trigger word.

So, so good. Saw it opening night with the Q&A about it

Surreal Conspiracy Horror: A Public Access Review

I think this sounds awesome. In a weird way, it reminds me of a game a friend of mine used to run back in the 90s, I believe with Beyond the Supernatural. He had a National Enquirer day-a-page calendar, and each story had the possibility of being a hoax, having a different explanation or being...

    Picard Season 3

It tracks. More AI means more people are unencumbered by jobs and can enjoy the Maximum Utopia provided by the UFP

How would you make a canal city work as a fantasy RPG setting?

You could have some Innsmouth-type interaction here where the aquatic/'fishmen' grab people, or even better find ways to seduce and indoctrinate minions, leading to their followers developing an 'Innsmouth' look of their own

Which of these six is the best H.P. Lovecraft story?

In a weird way, they're almost a perfect CoC mini campaign I'd say, with the way they connect the stories

Which of these six is the best H.P. Lovecraft story?

I highly, highly recommend the BBC podcast called the Lovecraft Investigations. They update The Case of Charles Dexter Ward, the Whisperer in Darkness, and Shadows over Innsmouth and connect them under the premise of being a true crime podcast. It's well acted, it's really solid. And since...

D&D General My cousin in law used random Treasure generation tables that resulted in A 1st level Party getting a permanent potion of Heroism. Ideas

I think sometimes, it's a safe way to get on here and get an idea vetted without attaching it to yourself. By posing it as a hypothetical cousin in law, it doesn't feel like an attack if someone starts in on how they're wrong, and this was Bad Fun, etc.

    MCDM officially announces their RPG

I had made this point when Fantasy Flight made the new L5R... with different dice. ... which were also different from their Star Wars dice.

D&D Movie/TV The D&D Movie Reviews Are Coming In

I was actually really surprised by Hugh Grant. I expected much more of the bumbling doofus, but the moments he actually had malice surface up... wow.

D&D Movie/TV The D&D Movie Reviews Are Coming In

I went to the local showing and brought my kids' mom, who is a non-gamer who is usually into crime shows although she liked GoT and Walking Dead (for awhile at least with TWD). She actually really enjoyed it for what it was - in her words 'a Star Wars or Marvel movie'. No connection to the...

What would you put in 1D&D from 4E?

Ten minutes to bind wounds makes sense, but there are so many other things that recharge on a short rest you'd need to worry about in a global/all-players sense. Again, I think a lot of the difficulties arise from what's awesome for one table may not be so great other places. Something else...

D&D General When is the last time you DMed a game?

I may try to run something this weekend during an off-week in our Traveller game. I'm gunshy because my previous group always had issues because I'd start running something and it would seem to fall apart, so I always felt it 'wasn't worth their time'. My current group is online and generally...

Does anyone else think that 1D&D will create a significant divide in the community?

Exactly. I don't remember too much upheaval when WoD came out with other editions. I don't know if it was because the systems were largely the same, to my understanding (at that point, most of my WoD gaming was LARP or playing on MUSHes). There wasn't so much inflammation about feeling...

D&D General When is the last time you DMed a game?

Know what's awesome? That you recognize ways to improve. Don't beat yourself up! I'm sure everyone had an awesome time.

Does anyone else think that 1D&D will create a significant divide in the community?

Every new edition of D&D seems to bring about this discussion. People will play what the table wants to play, generally. People are still playing Basic/Expert/Etc, 2e, 3.x, Pathfinder, 4th edition, etc. As a long time gamer, it only seems to be D&D that sprouts this discussion. I don't...

D&D 5E The Adventuring Day XP budget makes sense when you consider it is a budget for you to stock your dungeons

Absolutely this. It's like, what, a five room dungeon? Fill it out with extraneous things that might tell a story. I do love the easiness of the prep of spend some points, make an interesting few fights, and then wrap up the rest of the set design

D&D Movie/TV Polygon: Who is Hugh Grant playing in the D&D movie, and is it secretly Dagult Neverember?

As someone who ate Hot 'n Now religiously in Michigan, back when the burgers and fries were 39 cents (49 for the cheeseburger), I concur and would like to subscribe to your newsletter. There still is one open. What happened to Hot 'n Now? Competition, bankruptcy and now nostalgia

    5e vs Oe Cleric...

I respect that. I don't know that I think the spells are what give cleric oomph or interesting play. I know it's not an example everyone will like, but as risk of diverging the comments, I look at Critical Role. 400+ hours of campaign 2, with a cleric from the beginning and later adding a...
