Pathfinder, Cthulhu, Level Up: D&D Competitors Start To Sell Out

I still think a LOT of people will continue to stick with WotC products a large amount of gamers won't care. They're in established 5e games and will continue. PF 2e doesn't seem hugely popular around me.

Ryan Dancey -- Hasbro Cannot Deauthorize OGL

I'm a US lawyer but don't do IP work. I totally support Paizo. Etc. All's I'm saying is that it's NOT cut and dry. Dancey says is irrevocable but that word isn't in the OGL 1.0a. Perpetual doesn't mean irrevocable. See UK case BMS Computer Solutions Ltd. V AB Agri. Any court case probably...

Ryan Dancey -- Hasbro Cannot Deauthorize OGL

He's not a lawyer and there's an English case that says a perpetual license isn't irrevocable

The OGL -- Just What's Going On?

I'm an attorney but don't do IP work. Using the world perpetual without irrevocable doesn't necessarily mean forever. There's an English case on point regardingthe word perpetual in a license. End. I don't feel like arguing anymore. It's not ironclad.

The OGL -- Just What's Going On?

I personally don't see that happening if Hasbro wants to "cash in" on D&D that's what the OGL 1.1 does

The OGL -- Just What's Going On?

https://www.d20srd.org/ogl.htm It doesn't contain the word irrevocable. Perpetual doesn't mean irrevocable. For instance Texas law disfavors perceptual ie forever contracts as does federal copyright policy.

    Statement on OGL from WotC

As I said on the other thread, perpetual doesn't mean irrevocable. Version a includes a numbered paragraph allowing WotC to modify the license. I'm a lawyer but not an IP lawyer

Pathfinder 2E How is Pathfinder doing?

Yeah I remember when Paizo won some Ennies for PF 1e the Sagamore Ballroom was packed and everyone cheered. But that was at the height of PF 1e. I haven't been to GenCon since 2015.
