Suggest to me a rules lite(ish) modern fantasy/horror RPG

Cthulhu hack, perhaps? I listed to a live play of it by Rusty Quill and it seemed pretty good.

Simple classes for 1D&D, 1/3; Warrior.

That could be the case. I don't know her very well--she's more a friend of a friend; I've only met her a few times in person--but I do know she's an avid LARPer and she always seemed like a decent person. So this could be because she didn't care about 5e, or because she has some sort of weird...

Level Up (A5E) Which electronic version of character storage/sheet do you use for A5E characters?

I always make my own sheets (official sheets never have enough room for me), so it's digital. Sometimes I print them out.

You joke, but I know a woman who is, apparently, a very good roleplayer (I know her, but I haven't gamed with her; my friend was running a game for her) but couldn't even remember how to run a champion fighter.

Worlds of Design: The Plight of the New RPG—Quality of Writing

This is me, except it's my mother. My dad, who's actually a professional writer (and editor!) always says to put the work away for a few days--don't look at it, don't even think about it--and then go back and reread it.

[Monster of the Week] Help me come up with some interesting weaknesses for this clade of monsters.

Well, my first session went great! I still have to get used to not having people roll for everything, but I'll get there.

[Monster of the Week] Help me come up with some interesting weaknesses for this clade of monsters.

I like the idea of giving them a name. Maybe not as an insta-defeat, but as way to make them "real" enough to be fought (or not, as the players decide--they're the type of party that likes to adopt things).

Are we sure those boxes filled with actual product? He'd done mock-ups and presented them as actual product before.

[Monster of the Week] Help me come up with some interesting weaknesses for this clade of monsters.

Thanks! I only played a short game once ages ago, but I recall really enjoying it. Heh--knowing my players, they may end up doing that anyway. Or they might just burn them to ashes, just to make sure. Players, amirght?

[Monster of the Week] Help me come up with some interesting weaknesses for this clade of monsters.

I'm starting my very first MotW game tomorrow, and I've created a clade of monsters I'm calling lemures: Lemures are unique or mostly unique entities that can basically look and act like whatever I want them to be and can be as intelligent (or bestial) as I need. Due to player background...

How would you make a canal city work as a fantasy RPG setting?

Ooh... or, honestly, any sort of eldritch aquatic creature where the canals are the walls.

How would you make a canal city work as a fantasy RPG setting?

Perhaps there are places where the buildings are close enough together that their attics and crawlspaces are connected--or there are buildings between other buildings that have been boarded up and forgotten. With spells or the right sort of soundproofing (or high enough stealth skills)...

What We Lose When We Eliminate Controversial Content

I can agree that what some people try to claim is a fact is not actually a fact. Just to head off a possible direction you might take, people who are bigoted in one way or another try to support their bigotry with "facts" that are actually completely incorrect or at least horribly distorted. So...

What We Lose When We Eliminate Controversial Content

How do you decide that what some people are saying is sexist actually isn't?

What We Lose When We Eliminate Controversial Content

As I've said many times before, it really depends on the game. I'll bring up Spire again. Every single drow is forced into a "durance"--slavery--for four years, starting in their late teens, and at any other time as a legal punishment for a crime (while there are no cars in this game, it's the...

What We Lose When We Eliminate Controversial Content

But what you seem to be saying is that it's OK for there to be sexist stuff, because saying "don't be sexist" is trying to force a single viewpoint on people. I... don't really know what to say to that, other than sometimes, not all viewpoints and not all sides are equally good.

So play those games instead of complaining that a different game isn't including slavery anymore.

What We Lose When We Eliminate Controversial Content

No, of course not just one group. But a very large percentage of RPG writers come from a background that, at one point, had African slaves in it. You'll notice that it's pretty common for RPGs to have slaves rounded up by evil slavers (like the idea of rounding up Africans and selling them)...
