    D&D's Upcoming Digital Tabletop

If they really want to recreate the experience, they need a kaiju cat to randomly run across the map, knocking everything over and spilling drinks.

D&D 5E Martials should just get free feats

I'm tired of shackling a whole class for players who don't even want to learn the damn game. Moreover, where's my noob caster? My heal bot? Make 4 noob classes and release the fighter for people who enjoy tactics rather than designing it for a theoretical player who spaces out until someone...

D&D Movie/TV The D&D Movie Reviews Are Coming In

Maybe if Gygax didnt want treasure to rain he should have written the treasure tables and adventures to actually follow that. Magic items were quite common in 1e, far more than 5E's default expectation. Much like the "we scrounged for months to buy a hooded lantern!" nonsense I hear today that...

Pathfinder 1E Paizo: What the Heck? (Amazing and Undefeated???)

I like that this thread is old enough to vote.

    Is Resource Management “Fun?”

Continual Light and Tenser's Floating DIsk are 1E spells in the 1978 Player's Handbook. They are 1st/2nd level. This isnt some high level munchkin nonsense. The default state is "torches no longer matter at 3rd level", and likely far before that, given that 1e adventures are dripping with items...

    New Wild Shape

I feel that the shifter could work as a spell lite class similar to the warlock, with form abilities taking the place of invocations. Full shifting is simply too much on a 9 level caster.

    New Wild Shape

Casters should never equal a non-caster at what the non-caster does, because the non-caster is bound by reality and doesnt get to repick their superpowers after a nap. I don't even think casters should get skills, but sadly that ship has sailed. Versatility needs a price. ALL casters need to be...

    New Wild Shape

Are you seriously saying an awakened ape with weapons and armor proficiency can't wear armor? That's the ruling you'd make? Because that's what a druid in wildform effectively is. It's more grounds for having wildshape focused armor/spells than just giving them that stuff for free.

    New Wild Shape

Essentially on demand allowing you to sub Wis for Dex or Strength is useful in exploration. It's not like barbarians get "Brawn over Brains" that let them sub Strength for Wisdom or Intelligence. Apes can use tools/armor/weapons. So a low level druid in Ape form gets to rock a 18+ Strength and...

    New Wild Shape

Not a subclass. A stance or a round by round option that can be dropped whenever. It's not like moon druid lost their casting permanently. If you want to do co-opt another class's reason for existing, you should at least have to burn some spell slots.

    New Wild Shape

Yes, wildshape lets them save spell slots so they can spotlight hog outside of combat too. It's basically "barbarian stance" that they can drop when they feel like it. Would you be OK if barbarians had an ability that temporarily reduced their HP by 2/level and gave them full casting?

    New Wild Shape

They have 9 levels of spells. They SHOULDNT be able to tank. Call me when they're a half caster.

    New Wild Shape

That's what the spells/items are for. Not all buffs require concentration. Seems like a good time to rethink that "no buying magic items" thing then as well. Current Wildshape would be cool if fighters/barbarians got a little side ability that gave them full 9 level casting 4 times a day, but...

    New Wild Shape

How about taking the Toughness feat, buffing with spells, and buying combat wildshape focused magic items?
  16. E

    New Wild Shape

I normally agree with a lot you say, but just no. Barbarians have 2 more HP/level and no spells. Fighters have 1 more HP/level.

New One D&D Playtest Shows Us The New Druid & Paladin

Citation needed it isn't as good as the cleric. They also have more HP and AC than a wizard, not to mention other features beyond wildshape, which isnt even the only use for Channel Nature (or whatever it's called). Invocations are on a class that isn't a full caster, given their limited...

New One D&D Playtest Shows Us The New Druid & Paladin

Cue the world's smallest violin for the 9 level caster who can no longer swap from tank to scout to infiltrator more or less on a whim. Feats are a good way to expand on wildshape's current capabilities, as they represent real investment.

New One D&D Playtest Shows Us The New Druid & Paladin

The familiar doesn't get you INSIDE a location, or let you escape super easily. Wild Shape shouldn't really be more central than Turn Undead. It's something you get on top of being a 9 level caster. A half caster or non-caster is a good spot to explore wild shape as a major feature.
