    Very cool! I'm excited.

D&D General what stranger stuff is there for settings?

Maybe add Mythical Middle Ages ala Ars Magica to the list. What about Historical Fantasy, that takes real history as a basis for the campaign? Or, Alien Fantasy, where humans and even hominins like elves and dwarves don't exist? Or, one of my favorites, Anthropomorphic Animal Fantasy, ala...

D&D 5E Is the stun from Psychic Scream permanent if it is impossible to make the save?

The stunning will only last till the target makes their saving throw or the game developers recognize their mistake and issue an errata. So no, not permanent.

D&D General what stranger stuff is there for settings?

How about modern-characters-get-transported-to-a-different-time/world/reality-and-must-find-their-way-back-home. You could literally play yourself as a knight, wizard, or a hexblade warlock storm herald barbarian.

D&D General Just Eat the Dang Fruit

I try not to call for saving throws or skill checks until it is necessary to discover the outcome. For instance I don't call for a saving against lycanthropy until the next full moon. If the poison in question takes 10 minutes to act, then I don't call for a roll till I feel everyone has had...

Your right. There is also the issue with the dichotomy of the word 'option'. Some people see an optional class or race in an official book and think, "Oh, what a cool option, I think I'll take it." While others see the same thing and think, "Oh what a cool option, to bad it's not a part of the...

Yes! Optional complexity. However, at the beginning of just about every option containing book that Wizards produces there is a page explaining that the contents are optional. Yet, it gets touted by the community as official content. Maybe instead of explaining that the material is optional...

Pulse check on 1D&D excitement level

Hi. I came to fifth edition from Pathfinder 2. I had a choice to make back in 2016, either continue with Pathfinder 2, which seemed to be doubling down on complexity (particularly when it comes to character customization) or fifth edition which seemed to be the fourth edition I was expecting...

I voted high. I liked the way some of the playtest is going. But I'm still not going to purchase it.

D&D General A GM I know has A Player whose characters A Future King,, he's only done 1 adventure and theirs already 2 confirmed problems and 2 more brewing. Ideas

For a start, the Dungeon Master should depose the king. Install a new ruler. One that is not friendly toward the prince and has 3 good copper dragon allies.

D&D General Are You Ready For A "New" D&D?

I have not heard enough time with this edition. The Pandemic and stuff.

D&D General What is the last OGL adventure you DM'd or played in?

I use OGL stuff as a rack to hang my hat on. The last was a Dungeon Crawl Classics module called the Rats of Ilithmar which I smashed together with a one shot adventure by Jeff Ashworth for a Dungeons and Dragons game.

D&D General Magitech and Science Fantasy are Fundamental to D&D

So, is that the 2d20 one or the 3rd edition Dungeons and Dragons one? Is there a 5th edition Dungeons and Dragons one? I played the 2d20 one once at a convention. I don't even bother to buy the books anymore. I just feel it would be a waste of money and shelf space. Especially since they are...

D&D General Magitech and Science Fantasy are Fundamental to D&D

Sounds like a fair description of my middle school experience. Sometimes the geeks are eating each other alive in a futile attempt to gain acceptance from the preps. I don't know if that means anything but it sounds cool.

D&D General Magitech and Science Fantasy are Fundamental to D&D

Come on, that's not a fair characterization and you're kind of punching down on us here. We're simply lamenting from our position on the margins of the gamerspace that we can't find others of our kind to play with. Because, like you've indicated, space wizards and modern magic are more popular...

D&D General Magitech and Science Fantasy are Fundamental to D&D

I ran the 13th level of Undermountain: Trobriands Graveyard as a Mad Max: Furry Road adventure complete with motorcycles, post-apocalyptic rat rods, and mechanical purple worms. I have to admit, it was such a blast that I ran it twice.
