    D&D 5E 5E Survivor - Subclasses (Part VI: Fighters)

Arcane Archer 17 Battle Master 23 Brute 16+1=17 Does what the Champion should have done in closer balance to the Battlemaster. Cavalier 18 Champion 19-2=17 At level 11 with a greatsword the crit-bonus outdamages the Battlemaster once you hit round 27 of combat per short rest. Core feature very...

    D&D 5E Unused content

What do I vote for if I've played all 3 and 4 elements is my least-favorite Monk, PDK is my second least-favorite Fighter (after Champion), and Mastermind is my most-favorite Rogue?

D&D General what would a good orc culture be like?

Not a good-aligned society but not an evil one in my setting; The orcs of my setting put value on passion and toughness (taken from the half-orc brutal crit and resilience traits). Being able to deal with your pain has been useful in the past and now, culturally, they see it as a judge of...

D&D 5E Challenge: Invent a PHB Class List with 6 Classes

Warrior-simple tough fighter types: knight, berzerker, paladin Archer-simple nimble fighter types: rogue, sniper, guerilla Tactician-tactical fighter types: battlemaster, martial artist, ranger, warlord Mage-spellcaster: fills all current spellcasting niches Summoner-conjures allied creatures to...

My wishes for 6e: less dark vision and spellcasting classes

The thing about darkvision is I've never got the "Disadvantage on all perception checks so it's not really too good," argument because the number one reason to have it isn't really for seeing and completing puzzles in complete darkness, it's that without it in combat darkness means disadvantage...

ZEITGEIST Adventures in ZEITGEIST is Here!

Any reason for giving the Adept archetype Focus Point costs instead of Exertion? Seems like it might be a holdover from an earlier draft but I haven't read the whole thing yet so I'm not sure if they're something different.

D&D 5E Another Fighter: the "Heroic" Fighter

Gotta ask, why would the Tactician have an option to scale off of Charisma rather than Intelligence? Especially now that it's separated from Warlord it seems like Tactician's the obvious choice for an INT Fighter.

D&D 5E How to "fix" (or at least help) the fighter/wizard dynamic. (+)

One of the biggest improvements to Fighters we've done in our home game is allowing Fighters to switch Fighting Style as a bonus action. Definitely helps them to feel like they're the weaponmaster class. Personally I almost think the entirety of the Champion subclass should be added to the...

    D&D 5E Gimme your best villain one-liner!

I was gonna post this one, too. Anything that tells the players that the villain really doesn't recognize them. Clip related:

Level Up (A5E) Do Biting Zephyr maneuvers work with Crossbows?

I mean, doubleshot doesn't actually make sense on a bow either, but these are the Hollywood maneuvers, not the realist maneuvers. (Don't get me wrong, I hate when people say 'realism' doesn't matter, but it is really equally silly in this case).

D&D General Thaco the angry clown... really?

I assumed "thack-o," at least in this case because then it's pronounced like whacko which sounds like a clown name.

Make it a pair, you can call them Minnie and Max: Attorneys at Circus

    D&D 5E In a Prehistoric Setting, a fighter's bone axe shatters. A Wizard's _____ breaks how?

If you're going for an idea that the weapons break to provide the players a benefit you could just make it player-choice so there's no NEED for them to break but the OPTION for them to break. If it's up to the DM when things break I'd say probably removing spellcasting focii is the way to go...

D&D General What is your favorite Class?

In my experience if you want a good multiattack the class to take is monk. Two attacks at level 1 and three at level 5!

D&D General What is your favorite Class?

Definitely like the Fighter most narratively, but the mechanics leave a lot to be desired.

D&D 5E Why are non-caster Ranger themes so popular?

Not trying to put words in your mouth, but are you implying that a Fighter or Rogue should be basically incapable of wilderness survival?

Can you define BAB for me? I'm not familiar with the term.

D&D General Thaco the angry clown... really?

    Oh, is that all? Yeah, it's no math required. But say I'm playing 5e and I have a 16 Strength, a +5 Proficiency Bonus, and a +2 Longsword. Then you just put this chart in your weapon: AC>To Hit 10>2 11>2 12>2 13>3 14>4 15>5 16>6 17>7 18>8 19>9 20>10 21>11 22>12 23>13 24>14 25>15 See? No math...

What stuff from 3.5e/3e/2e/1e/od&d should go into 5.5e?

I mean, designing a whole 5/10 levels you're not expecting the players to play constrains the coolness of design you can add. If the game was 10 levels and then maybe had a whole different system for levels 11-20 I'd be all in on that.

What stuff from 3.5e/3e/2e/1e/od&d should go into 5.5e?

I mean, I think the real solution is to mash all the abilities classes have right now into the first 10 levels (rebalancing spells so your highest spell level is equal to your character level) and then make levels 11+ into just more uses per long rest for the stuff you already have.
