Kyle Brink Interviewed by Teos Abadia (Alphastream) on OGL, WotC, & D&D

Maybe you could try to read the details I wrote about? Let’s agree to disagree.

Kyle Brink Interviewed by Teos Abadia (Alphastream) on OGL, WotC, & D&D

No, it very much isn’t for a host of reasons: The question stands whether the ‘draft‘ was intended as a draft, or if it was signed. If it was signed, it was not a draft any longer it was an enacted contract, and WotC is lying through their teeth about their intentions, which very much seems to...

Kyle Brink Interviewed by Teos Abadia (Alphastream) on OGL, WotC, & D&D

What you want to know and what he should know as the figurehead of this whole debacle don’t need to be the same.

Kyle Brink Interviewed by Teos Abadia (Alphastream) on OGL, WotC, & D&D

I feel like every time this guy opens his mouth. My esteem of Wizards of the Coast drops to an even lower point. I can’t begin to count all of the dysfunctional markers I’m seeing in what he’s saying about how they operate. Nobody knows what’s going on. Nobody’s telling anyone anything. Oh oops...

D&D Movie/TV Honor Among Thieves: The New D&D Movie Officially Announced

My argument isn’t that LotR couldn’t make a good TV show, I think it could. But rather than the poster I replied to using the film as an argument that it should have been a TV show, which makes no sense to me. And that by that logic e.g. BttF would likewise make for a great TV show. Yes, long...

D&D Movie/TV Honor Among Thieves: The New D&D Movie Officially Announced

By that logic Back to the Future is likewise better fit for a TV show, which I don’t think it is. The two are radically different formats. LotR was spectacularly successful as films; that doesn’t automatically suggest it would thrive under the very different restrictions of a TV production. But...

D&D Movie/TV Honor Among Thieves: The New D&D Movie Officially Announced

I think it's a little reductive to call it 'a miniseries'. And no, nothing has come close on the big screen, but then that's arguably true for the small screen as well.

D&D Movie/TV Honor Among Thieves: The New D&D Movie Officially Announced

It proves it in how it became a world-wide phenomenon, beloved by critics and layman alike? 😄

    D&D 5E Multiverse adventures?

Are there any published adventures/campaigns that move around the multiverse in some sort of jolly fashion?

D&D General ARcana -- Augmented TTRPG Platform from Actor Joe Manganiello

Fair. For anyone? 😄 — This was more meant to be my verdict, that arguably the constraints across the board outweigh the upsides. I love Owlbear Rodeo. But it's not a 1:1 comparison with the other VTTs. I'm a one-stop-shop kinda guy myself, if it can be gotten without too much downside. Friends...

D&D General ARcana -- Augmented TTRPG Platform from Actor Joe Manganiello

But the point is that it's not simply a linear ramp of improvement from 'bad graphics' through to 'real world graphics'. 1. There are real costs associated with creating a system that can deliver better graphics. The higher fidelity, the more storage and bandwidth is needed. 2. Likewise the...

D&D General ARcana -- Augmented TTRPG Platform from Actor Joe Manganiello

100% this. I did the same, and it's just oodles of complexity. I also worked at a large computer games company which pursued doing 3D world building tools for "everyman" and it's doable, but the WORK involved is tedious. The prep is multitudes worse than anything else a GM might otherwise do...

D&D 5E Prediction: Hasbro Will Acquire Foundry Virtual Tabletop for $24M

I meant in relation to this thread and the idea of WotC buying Foundry (which makes, like, no sense at all).

D&D General ARcana -- Augmented TTRPG Platform from Actor Joe Manganiello

Yes, completely agreed in the case of ARcana and its ilk, that the graphics are the point. But my post was in reference to e.g. Jaeger complaining about other VTTs (which I took to mean Roll20, Fantasy Grounds and Foundry in particular).

D&D 5E Prediction: Hasbro Will Acquire Foundry Virtual Tabletop for $24M

Did everyone miss that WotC bought D&D Beyond this morning?

D&D General ARcana -- Augmented TTRPG Platform from Actor Joe Manganiello

I think the point about VTTs not being graphically impressive is a misunderstanding of the primary purposes of VTTs. It isn't to make TTRPGs more like CRPGs or more "impressive". It's first and foremost to allow for people to play remotely with one another. The graphical side of that is...
