"Never seen one flying." Valda comments. "Cloud Giants. Gonna make things tricky." She starts gathering up her things for the trek to the Cairn.

(IC) Against the Giants PBP Group 1

Valda had been bruised and battered over the last day, but she was used to the feeling, from both her time living on the streets and her time as an adventurer, and besides, she felt a sense of satisfaction. Giants had always been in the back of her mind since the day they had destroyed her...

Against the Giants 5e PBP (Full)

Yah, holiday time has been rough, but I should be available more readily now.

The strange insectoid monster's gazes were hypnotic, causing Valda to feel like she was on the edge of dreaming. She tried to resist but everything became hazy as she started to stumble around unconsciously. Like Jack, making two saving throws. Charisma Saving Throws: 1D20+1 = [20]+1 = 21...

I actually completed missed that, my bad, thanks for catching that. I will go back and alter my turn accordingly.

Valda, hearing the sounds of battle, rushes forward to get into the fight, inspired by Eoghan's cry. As she charged forward she threw one of her handaxes at her belt at the creature Bible was fighting. Thanks to the double move, I'm going to get to DV49, which is still a bit short on making...

Valda collects the bow she dropped while the others are talking. The tiger demon was pretty weird, and the particulars of that, and their next move are probably better left to someone else. She follows Bible and the rest as they continue down the passage.

    D&D 5E Niche protection: the wizard’s niche

I agree with that assessment of niche protection. After all, if damage dealer is a niche, would that mean no one else can do any damage? How would that even work? I also think one issue with the poll is that being restricted to one choice is a bit awkward when discussing the contributions in...

    D&D 5E Niche protection: the wizard’s niche

You're not wrong about needing to pin down a definition for battlefield control. Even 4e wasn't really sure what that entailed when they first started out, IMO. I also think that you need to figure out the niches of everyone else to solidly do that, which is a bit beyond the original scope of...

    D&D 5E Niche protection: the wizard’s niche

Battlefield controller. 4e wizards filled that role and they were really fun to play. You can spread out the utility spells a bit, with the wizard still getting a good chuck and it would fulfill the main wizard fantasy in my book.

Dropping her bow after seeing the non-magical arrows were ineffective, she drew her longsword. "Oh, I've got some magic and I'm going to shove it right up his..." She trails off with some goblinoid curses as she moved in to strike. . +1 Longsword Attack Rolls: 1D20+9 = [4]+9 = 13 1D20+9 =...

D&D (2024) Are You Happy with the Selection of Subclasses?

Okay, so here is my thoughts. Barbarian -I'm pretty happy overall with the 4 subclasses, although I think World Tree could use another pass, as it feels the mechanically weakest of the 4. I kinda wish Zealot was something different just because I think the thematic aspects of it are a bit weak...

Valda moves cautiously towards the combat, pulling out her bow and firing off some shots at the tiger monster. The giant ape unfortunately blocked getting good access the opponent, but she looked around to see if there was a way through, including on the ceiling or walls that her boots could...

    D&D (2024) Barbarian (Playtest 7)

It's pretty clear strength to those skills is an abstraction to allow Barbarians to be good at using those skills. Also, I guess I don't find it anymore jarring than Cha to attack (Looking at you Pact of the Blade).

D&D (2024) Is Counterspell less frustrating now?

The 2014 version's problem is that it can utterly ruin a boss monster that is a spellcaster. A reaction to negate the enemy's turn? It can completely change an encounter to a cakewalk. The new version at least you can throw legendary resistances at it. It's certainly not ideal, but I think it's...

D&D (2024) Is Counterspell less frustrating now?

Better than it was for me certainly.

Valda had been distracted by stabbing the now dead roper a few more times, just to be sure. However, when the demon tiger thing had revealed itself, she muttered "Well, huh. That's not good." She dug out a flask from her belt and downed it, the bleeding wounds from the last fight slowing a bit...

D&D (2024) Class spell lists and pact magic are back!

Class spell lists are back, so happy that sorcerers are going back to just being lamer wizards yet again! /sarcasm This reverting back only helps the Wizard class.

(IC) Against the Giants PBP Group 1

Valda awoke with a start, for a moment wondering if she had died, but the pain of the having a chunk of her shoulder torn out, along with the rock-like creature thrashing and whipping it's tendrils around. Valda knew she wasn't fast enough to get out of range of those things. The only chance...

D&D (2024) With Weapon Mastery likely making it in, do you want optional exotic weapons and exotic weapon masteries?

Having a Boomerang weapon sounds cool. But I really wouldn't want to complicate stuff with Exotic Weapon Prof feats or whatever.
