D&D (2024) Comeliness and Representation in Recent DnD Art

Is there anything particularly elfish about this pic, now that I've docked the ears?

That would depend entirely on the individual. You'd have to ask each person seperately. I really like the planetouched people--tiefs, aasimar, genasi, etc. Maybe it is because I'm LGBT+ (I'm ace) or maybe it's because I'm autistic--because of both these things, I've managed to feel "other" for...

Drink what? WD-40 on the rocks?

Yes. Because some people don't want to play humans. Besides, it's not like most gamers go out of their way to think up any truly non-human cultural elements for their elves and dwarfs, besides the most basic of "elves are skinny and like nature" or "dwarfs are bearded, like mining, and tend to...

Level Up (A5E) A Leveled-Up Bestiary: Volume Two

So Monday and Wednesday were eaten up by permanency. But Friday brings a monster. And with this continuation of monsters of the Greyhawk god Iuz, now we’re getting a plant! OK, we’re actually getting a fungus (shakes fist at whichever writer decided to lump fungi in with plants). Actually, its...

    D&D 5E People don't read the 5E DMG for a reason

Well, they could. OK, maybe not social encounters, but exploration encounters definitely. Take a look at the exploration challenges for Level Up.

WotC Vecna: Nest of the Evil Eye--Deets On The Prequel Adventure

Yeah, but it's the idea that it's going away after this. Someone who gets into D&D next year will never be able to get it.

Especially since in 1e, orcs and elves didn't have souls.

Baker has actually written a few blog posts about this sort of thing, like this one.

Level Up (A5E) So. Permanency, the spell.

Yep. So 70k and 80k in total.

    Homebrew Permanency

2,000 gp (doubled if you cast it on a creature). And yeah, permanent until they attack or cast. So... not worth it. Unless you really have money to burn.

Anime elf ears. Not my particular favorite, either.

Speaking of body types and representation, y'all might want to check out the Daggerheart playtests. Nice range of body types. For instance: Fat elf.

    D&D 5E People don't read the 5E DMG for a reason

OK, fair enough--it's been a while since I've looked at the encounters. But you can still get away with using the entire budget in far less than 6-8 encounters.

    D&D 5E People don't read the 5E DMG for a reason

Except that (a) the only thing they have that really grant XP is combat and a lot of tables find nothing but combat to be tedious (there may be notes saying you can award XP for other things, but I can't recall any hard and fast rules for it), and (b) you can blow that budget on a single encounter.

TSR The Full & Glorious History of NuTSR

I wonder if Lanasa will consider this a win, because he made WotC pay, or a loss, because he didn't get that million he thought he deserved (or whatever the ridiculous amount he wanted was). Or am I completely misunderstanding and that $15k goes to someone not him?
