D&D General Hasbro Is Looking For Partners For Baldur's Gate 4

Those videos games are the reason why those places are important legacy elements of FR. Baldur’s Gate was just another dot on the fictional map until a major video game was set there. Additionally, there are a ton of very important legacy Realms locations that didn’t have hit video games named...

D&D General Hasbro Is Looking For Partners For Baldur's Gate 4

A lot of these examples are just names of cities on the Sword Coast, but some of D&D’s most successful video games were also named after those cities. And it becomes obvious when they start emphasizing the connection by including elements from the video game into the marketing for the new...

D&D General Hasbro Is Looking For Partners For Baldur's Gate 4

I mean, they’ve been trying to milk the success of past video game hits for years, and then they missed the boat on solidly tying many products to this video game release. (Part of the problem was that BG3 was in Early Access for a long while, so some tie-in products—MTG for example—happened...

You’re in luck! This book has been available for an entire decade already.

D&D 5E Vecna: Eve of Ruin Trailer Stars Baldur's Gate's Astarion Actor

Is this a situation where even fictional gods are confused by a recording of their own voice??

Ah ha! My cynical joke-suggestion becomes more plausible!

    Eat The Monsters--Literally--With Gummyquest

I’ll sell a budget version of this, wherein most of the PCs are Haribo and a lot of the monsters are blue whales, Swedish fish, and gummy earthworms. It’ll retail for $1 per encounter, and it’ll be available at 7-11.

Doppel Is A Physical Digital Miniature!

Products like this seem like the wrong direction to me. TTRPGs seem to have more peripherals, more plastic, more stuff now than ever before, at a time when overconsumption is a major driver of climate change and cost of living is already skyrocketing. As a hobby, we should be moving toward using...

D&D (2024) This Dragon Art Is From The 2024 Player's Handbook

Parts of the background (namely the building piled upon each other, or the crowd of people at the bottom) look like they could have been generated… or maybe I’ve just become completely paranoid and suspicious

Catalyst Game Labs Partners with Paizo to Publish a New Pathfinder Deckbuilding Game

I like that evocative subtitle: “Runefire: Not Final Graphics” (Just kidding! Plz don’t throw tomatoes!)

WotC D&D Beyond Update: 2024 Core Rulebooks, Maps, and Third Party Content.

I’m sorta confused and can’t watch the video now (and likely won’t if it’s more than 30 seconds long). What am I looking at?

Shadow of the Weird Wizard Is Finally Here!

Somehow the naysayers are suddenly quiet! (I probably shouldn’t even mention it, lest they come back.)

Shadow of the Weird Wizard Is Finally Here!

I never played SotDL so I can’t speak about it, but SotWW truly doesn’t seem very crunchy, it just has some mechanical guidance. (E.g.: How high can you jump?) Lots of that guidance appears to be flexible or optional, not binding parts of the rules.

Shadow of the Weird Wizard Is Finally Here!

Dang, there’s a lot of unwarranted negativity here. I backed the KS, I’ve followed the prereleases, and I’m extremely hyped to have it finally ready to play! Chill Winston, the second part is coming soon! Do you get this upset when D&D has multiple books?? In a few months, both books will be...

Freebies, Sales, and Charity Bundles for February 18, 2024

I didn’t want to support it but it seems like there might be a grey area: DTRPG seems to allow “stock art” to be sold as long as it includes a disclaimer. The product in question has no disclaimer, but does cite the artist “FantasyLandscapes”, whose products are sold as stock art on DTRPG and do...

FYI that Shadowdark Hex Crawl product apparently uses undisclosed AI artwork, according to the discussion on its DTRPG page.

The Rise And Fall Of Evil Genius Games

Well, it sounds like the kind of culture that no employees should ever fit. Abusive work environments are not “culture”, and not paying your staff is the deathknell of any operation. When people talk about “Start-Up Culture” there’s at least this semi-plausible assumption that grinding and...
