D&D 5E Quests From The Infinite Staircase

What plants are there under the horrid plant monster entry, and what are the tower stewards (and which adventure are they from)?

TSR The Full & Glorious History of NuTSR

The hutaakans definitely count as furries, Lizardfolk, not so much :D. So 1990 is the earliest playable furry race so far.

TSR The Full & Glorious History of NuTSR

I'm not that familiar with Mystaran races, but did the lupins or rakastas (or other furries) get playable races before the Red Steel Campaign Expansion set in 1994? For that matter, I don't remember the tabaxi being a playable race in either 1st or 2nd Edition. The Complete Book of Humanoids has...

D&D 5E Quests from the Infinite Staircase TOC and Zargon.

I've said this before, but I think we're more likely to get a Manual of the Multiverse than a Manual of the Planes for this edition.

D&D 5E Potential Monsters in Quests from the Infinite Staircase Adventures

Looking at this again, I started wondering if "tower stewards" could be the energons with a new name and/or a makeover. But then I realised that Tsojcanth doesn't have a tower, just an inner sphere. Of the six adventures, it seems that only When a Star Falls has a tower (Shalfey's Tower), but...

D&D 5E Potential Monsters in Quests from the Infinite Staircase Adventures

Now that the table of contents is available in this thread, how do my predictions shape up? All of the NPCs and unique creatures are there (the Green Man is now the Gardener and Munafik is now Nafik). There's also a stat block for Nafas, who is new to this compilation. Many of the new monsters...

D&D (2024) New DM Screen Revealed By NZ Retailer

Are you sure? There have been an awful lot of screens released since 2nd Edition, and some of them have been pretty decent. Fun fact: This will be the 82nd screen released for D&D.

D&D (2024) Early access to 2024 books in DnDBeyond is tied to subscription tier.

I mean, sure, if we wait long enough, eventually WotC will no longer be selling printed books. There is also no longer much of a market for clay tablets or papyrus.

D&D (2024) Early access to 2024 books in DnDBeyond is tied to subscription tier.

I share your feelings about subscriptions in general, and I try to avoid them. However, my experience with Beyond has been the opposite. The value of the subscription feels like it has increased over time. The ability to share content with players becomes more valuable with more content. Then...

D&D (2024) Early access to 2024 books in DnDBeyond is tied to subscription tier.

It's hard to tell if the digital perks are included with the digital only bundle. I suspect they are, because the Product Details section for the digital only bundle looks like this, with all those digital perks listed as "New Features":

    D&D (2024) 2024 Player's Handbook Reveal #1: "Everything You Need To Know!"

Interesting, that's a change to the previous model, isn't it? I have to say that I prefer the early access being linked to the subscription tier instead of a physical purchase.

    D&D (2024) 2024 Player's Handbook Reveal #1: "Everything You Need To Know!"

Are you asking if it is new for Beyond to sell printed version of the book? If so, no, they've been doing so since December 2022. I seem to recall that the Dragonlance release was the first with a print bundle option. I stand to be corrected but I think the current arrangement is: FLGS can...

    The Ultimate Ravenloft Thread

Mr Lowder is a true gentleman. Some years ago, while I was trying to fill some gaps in my collection of annoyingly-tricky-to-find 1993 TSR Collector's Cards, I ended up purchasing some cards from Mr Lowder including a card with the image of Lord Soth from Knight of the Black Rose (which I...

Ben Riggs: 'The Golden Age of TTRPGs is Dead'

Exactly that. My first impression of 5e was that it was a complete reversion from 4e to something based on 2e/3e. Since then, I have regularly been surprised to discover that there is quite a bit of 4e still mixed in.

Ben Riggs: 'The Golden Age of TTRPGs is Dead'

Ah, but I didn't say "much of it was taken from 4e". I referred instead to the "surprisingly numerous parts of 4e design that 5e kept". Clearly, 5e uses a chassis closer to 2e or 3e as its game engine. In my opinion, it doesn't use anywhere near "much" of 4e. Nonetheless, I have, over time, been...

Ben Riggs: 'The Golden Age of TTRPGs is Dead'

What makes you think I'm a 4e fan? I am, but only in the sense that I'm a fan of all editions of D&D. I'm no more of a 4e fan than a 5e or 2e fan, and 4e is certainly not my favorite version of D&D. I'm also confused by the implication that I somehow benefit from having any sort of particular...
