5E Hypothetical 50th Anniversary Core Rulebooks

From a marketing standpoint, there is no benefit in a surprise edition drop. It would be a massive slap in the face to the existing customer base and would do massive damage to the brand.

5E Hypothetical 50th Anniversary Core Rulebooks

A better question would be: If you didn't physically need a new book, how much change would there need to be for you to buy a new printing?

5E Hypothetical 50th Anniversary Core Rulebooks

I'd love for them to reissue the special covers at that time so I can get them for a reasonable price. I'd like 5.2, mostly errata corrections or updates that got incorporated to later rules. Class and Monsters updated to more recent design philosophies.

5E Green Ronin's Book of Fiends for 5E

In regards shipping to be paid latter: Offering free shipping has sunk many a well meaning kickstarter project. However, I do agree that typically the cost to back a physical copy should typically be at least a bit lower than MSRP. One real motive to back is scarcity. If you live in a large...

5E The Last Edition of D&D?

I think a good metric for edition speed is volume of releases. WotC has been extremely conservative in it's release schedule for this edition in comparison to all others. I would love to see more books per year, but having just 3-5 a year, which includes core rulebooks, settings (Some of which...

    UA Unearthed Arcana Revisits Psionics

Correct. It is a game. There are plenty of systems in any game I play that don't click for me so they don't get the spotlight. cough cough Grappling. If these rules get the go ahead I will be disappointed, sure, but these aren't core rules, so if I end up not using them, it's not a huge loss...

    UA Unearthed Arcana Revisits Psionics

Meh. I played Psionics in 1st ed. I really enjoyed the 3.5 Psionics Expanded book better.

    UA Unearthed Arcana Revisits Psionics

I can appreciate why this direction is the one with the traction, but I would much rather a new class with subclasses to create the various Psionic archtypes.

[Chaosium] Harlem Unbound 2E: Chris Spivey's ENnie-winning Game is Back and Better!

I kickstarted the original but dont need Gumshoe, so when this hit print, Im definitely interested. Will have to find a good home for the 1st ed.

Critical Role Wildemount: Looking for spoilers

So the book comes out next week. I'm not interested in the setting as a resource, though I would expect to read it for general enjoyment. What will motivate a purchase from me is raw rules crunch. So what are we expecting?

5E Which Is Better: Regular or Alternate Cover Art For Theros?

The pic may be misleading as one which was displayed earlier has some sort of foiling effect.

5E Mythic Odysseys of Theros Now Has a Description (& Pre-orders) [UPDATED]

Also the idea of "Mythic Threats" make me hope they bring back templating from 3rd ed in some fashion.

5E Mythic Odysseys of Theros Now Has a Description (& Pre-orders) [UPDATED]

With subclasses and a new mechanic in Supernatural gifts, this upticks in the possibility of me purchasing. I don't know if it would work for my current planned campaign, but could see them being useful for a future one.

5E Official D&D Greek-Themed 'Mythic Odysseys of Theros' Setting Coming In May

Agreed. All it was really bringing was new races which are harder to adapt to a homebrew setting. Give me at least some subclasses.

5E Official D&D Greek-Themed 'Mythic Odysseys of Theros' Setting Coming In May

I am willing to check out setting book to cannibalize for parts. I picked up Ebberon but passed on Ravnica. New class materials is usually the deciding factor.

    Ongoing vs Limited RPG design

The possible end of the current Star Wars license at FFG got me thinking about game design from a volume perspective. In the thread, several people were lamenting that, because it is an expensive licensed property, no game company seems able to make a truly sustained push to put out Star Wars...

    Fantasy Flight Games Discontinuing RPGs?

It's a damn shame. A company with clout and publishing heft, able to reliably put books into gaming stores.

UA WotC Removes Latest Unearthed Arcana

I also am curious to know how the issues with this break down by age. I recall a number of aphrodisiac sex comedies from my youth that are super rapey now.

UA WotC Removes Latest Unearthed Arcana

For me, having a given element in a given game is complex but comes down to what my audience is comfortable with and what sorts of stories the element permits. D&D is traditionally about using violence to solve problems. Now as the game has evolved, that has evolved, for the better. But violence...
