So does this mean I can have items boosting me past that? I.E. Gloves of Hercules boosting my Strength by 1+ above my "natural" 20?

I particularly like the feat that gives 1+ to deference with a light weapon on the off hand; I have a really cool bard that basically ducks and weaves into combat with a shortsword and longsword.

I'd be giving up my 10th level spell then, no? Alas, I don't even have anyone to play this game with xD. I am just doing this for my own amusement tbh.

So assuming a Lore build, what kind of Ability Scores and feats would you guys consider to be pertinent?

My character that I am making right now is largely an avatar for myself, so he is an INTP Bard of Lore :p. I find Myers Briggs to make very good character silhouettes that one can fall back on when wondering what that character would do in a particular scenario.

So I guess the issue I have is that from a mechanics standpoint I can't see what role the seperate Bards fill. (I think I have decided on Lore Bard btw) Lore Bard doesn't seem to be able to take much of a beating at all. At D8 and Light Armour, he is as squishy as a Rogue. I can see myself only...

This question has actually been a point of difficulty for me with my bard. On theome hand, I want him to carry a shield, on the other, he won't be able to weild a peon and cast simultaneously. I hear that sheathing a weapon is a free action anyway yes? perhaps it isn't as big a deal as I thought.

I like calling my weapons by whatever important charcter it slew or many foes it slew. Examples are maul named "Bonemeal" because that adventure had A LOT of dead skellies and the other is a longsword "Shelob's Bane" for killing, well, Shelob
