    Space: 1999 Coming From Modiphius

I was just a kid when the show was released. I loved the Eagle's design, but I found it to be nonsensical. I clearly remember asking my father how the moon left Earth but was finding different planets every week.

D&D General D&D Making Of Book Coming June 2024

I haven't played or brought any books since COVID. This will be my first new one.

That Full D&D Renault Commercial Is Here And It Features Tiamat And Venger!

Seems like someone in advertisement finally fulfilled a wish he kept since he was a kid in the 80s. The cartoon was very popular in Brazil despite D&D was released only 10 years later. Even now, many people -- such as my wife before we met -- fail to make the connection between the show and the...

Jack Vance-Themed Lyonesse RPG Coming Next Year

Curious to see their take on the magical system as it is the same as The Dying Earth, another Jack Vance series that was the base model for D&D.

    Planescape WOTC Teasing Planescape?

Planescape is the most imaginative D&D setting Wizards have. Still, I thought it was too constrained by D&D conventions, such as Tolkien's races. I would love if they published a reboot based in the core concepts but without the legacy.

Brazilian D&D Translators Fall Out Over Translation Rights

What a mess! Although I always prefer books in English, the Portuguese edition is a must to most Brazilian players, especially kids that are starting in the hobby. I hope they will settle quickly, although, if it is true, it will be hard to imagine anyone trying to do business if Fire on Board.

WotC (re)Releases 1983's World of Greyhawk Fantasy Game Setting for AD&D 1st Edition

Writing from memory, there are no stats in this product, except for class and level for the rulers of the many nations. Considering the 5th edition PHB already give guidelines for many of the gods from the Greyhawk's pantheon, I say we don't need anything else to create your own campaign.

    Gygax Memorial Statue Concept Proposal

I find the design to be terrible. There are too many elements cluttered in a single piece in such way that the message is lost in the confusion. In the city I live, Rio, there are several statues of famous people in real size. Some can be very elaborate as of a famous composer who is literally...

What is your Favorite Version of D&D?

It would be BECMI as compiled in the Rules Cyclopedia. I read most of the 5th edition PHB and I liked a lot of the mechanics although I am not so sure about some of the design choices in the classes. Nevertheless, as I haven't played it yet I'll refrain to give my opinion on 5th edition until...

    D&D 5E Greyhawk?

If this was any other company than WotC, I would assume Perkins is hinting a new product specifically tied to Greyhawk. Either a setting book or an adventure path. However, considering how the company have treated the setting in the last ten years, I wouldn't be surprised if he was just...

PlayStation 4 or Xbox One or Wii U?

As a serious gamer, the only one I would ever buy is the Wii U. Despite the fact is less powerful than the others and will almost certainly receive the least support from all third party publishers, it will still receive the Nintendo games, which are are worth of the price of buying a console...

Baldur’s Gate: Enhanced Edition withdrawn from sale over “contractual issues”

Whatever the dispute was, they reached an agreement and the game is back on sale.

    OSR OSRIC Versions?

A supplement will not help much as the math is pretty obvious and the real advantage is having the alternative numbers in the monsters' descriptions on the core book.

    OSR OSRIC Versions?

The best AC in AD&D is -10, which is translated to 30 in the ascending AC system. These systems are equivalent, as long as the rules they present are the same. As such, there is no difference in using one or another other than the ascending one is much more simple as it does no require a table.

    OSR OSRIC Versions?

I find OSRIC much superior as a rules set than AD&D. I still enjoy reading Gygax's prose in the original but the rules are much better laid down in OSRIC. The only thing I would like to see included was an option for ascending AC, as we can find inSwords & Wizardry and a few other OSR's product...

Are the polls a correct measurment of what the dnd players want?

It is very, very difficult to evaluate what customers want with pools. First of all, Wizards' pools at their site are useless because of the very biased sample of the universe of potential D&D players. Still, they might give some information of what their current customers with a habit of...

    Is math a flaw?

I have some experience playing and GMing Rolemaster, which requires summing numbers with three digits all the time. The thing is, most of the players were engineers and have little problem with these operations. However, less mathematical inclined people, such as the lawyer player really had a...

There are going to be a lot of people disappointed.

The d20 + modifier mechanic is not a problem except for the most obtuse old schoolers. A simpler game with few layers of complexity (feats, attacks of opportunities, and, perhaps, skills) is what a game should be designed to attract the OSR people. However, I doubt WotC is really trying to get...
