D&D General Updating non-human pantheons for the new world orc-der (+)

In my campaign... Orcs are millenarianist Luddites who perceive any aspect of civilization as degeneracy and trespass. Led by druids who venerate nature deities in their most zealous and destructive aspects, gods such as Hurakan (floods and unrestrained fury), Joramy (fire, volcanoes, and...

    Dismantling the Game Master

I didn't respond in the Do You OSR thread but I might as well here: A big reason why I've begun exploring OSR games is because I wanted to find relief from the massive burden that 5e puts on the DM, especially with bookkeeping -- doing most of the rolling, keeping track of damage dealt and NPC...

Pirate Borg: Buried in the Bahamas

Burn Tokwith curses in frustration, his machete nearly useless against the carapace of the devil crab. Suddenly he recalls the pistol and shot recovered from the other camp. That might make a more effective claw cracker than his machete. He races to find the pistol and load it. ((IIRC it...

Pirate Borg: Buried in the Bahamas

((Did we bring back these supplies? This post was lost in the shuffle after my failed attempt to heal from rum. I don't think any of us explicitly said we took them.))

Pirate Borg: Buried in the Bahamas

Burn Tokwith slashes with his machete but it bounces harmlessly off the monster's carapace. Wary of its venom, Tokwith leaps away from its snapping claws in the nick of time.

Pirate Borg: Buried in the Bahamas

Burn Tokwith stares aghast at the scene of crab-on-cabin-boy violence. "I'm not the cannibal -- you're the cannibal," he yells at the monstrous shellfish. Drawing his machete, Tokwith leaps at the colossal crustacean, mouth already watering at the crab boil to come.

Pirate Borg: Buried in the Bahamas

Burn Tokwith lurches upward from the sandy spot where he collapsed upon their return from the northern camp, muscles exhausted and stomach sick and empty. He spots Calvin huddled over the screaming Knives. Cannibalism! Clearly Calvin's hunger had overtaken his reason and the poor boy was about...

D&D (2024) WotC Invites You To Explore the World of Greyhawk

I look forward to your prequel trilogy about a time-tossed group of heroes attempting to prevent the apocalypse. Make sure to throw in some minotaurs, people love those.

D&D (2024) WotC Invites You To Explore the World of Greyhawk

I love this perspective. Personally I hate the Greyhawk Wars because to me, the 1970s/80s Cold War tension of the setting is instrumental to its atmosphere and the Wars p*ssed all that away. So in my variant timeline the Wars never happened, nor will they ever happen.

Pirate Borg: Buried in the Bahamas

((I didn't realize the rum was contained in individual doses -- I thought it was in one big barrel. If Tokwith has a bottle then he will drink one dose. Toughness test vs DR8 = rolled a 5 -1 = 4 so FAIL.)) Suddenly remembering the bottle he brought with him from the wreck site, Burn Tokwith...

D&D (2024) WotC Invites You To Explore the World of Greyhawk

Nafas has granted your wish. From “Part Dragon, All Hero,” an article in Dragon Magazine 206 (June 1994) by Carl Sargent about using half-dragon characters from Council of Wyrms in other game worlds: “Oerth is a more cosmopolitan setting than many, its peoples long accustomed to magical...

Pirate Borg: Buried in the Bahamas

Burn Tokwith smacks his lips, regretful he brought no rum on their march. A good jot would be just the thing to revitalize his spirits after the long slog across the island. He searches the barrel and the crate in the hope their contents might slake his thirst.

Pirate Borg: Buried in the Bahamas

As the scouting party returns and describes the local geography, Burn Tokwith sketches a map in the sand with a scrap of wood. "Perhaps there's something worth a penny or three at the old camp. Maybe we should investigate that, shipmates? Our fine pleasure boat is nearly ready for her maiden...

Pirate Borg: Buried in the Bahamas

A boat? This thought hadn't occurred to Burn Tokwith. Perhaps that would offer a better chance of survival than a signal fire. Then they could set sail immediately for that treasure... Tokwith leaps to assist the Leperchaun. "Let's get to it! No time to waste. We can sleep when we're corpses in...

Pirate Borg: Buried in the Bahamas (recruiting one more crew member and waitlisting)

For Distinctive Flaws, I rolled "stupid," which I'm interpreting as, "Makes poor life decisions." Just like a lot of criminals, or so I've read in the newspapers.

Pirate Borg: Buried in the Bahamas

Burn Tokwith Huffing and wheezing from rolling the barrel of water onto the beach, Tokwith peers over Leperchaun's shoulder peering over Safari's shoulder. "That's a treasure map if I've ever sees one. As soon as we're off this patch of wet sand we'll make for it. Now help me dump the water out...
