Mongoose acquires Twilight 2000 and 2300 AD

Matt has already said Free League will continue to publish it for the foreseeable future as he said "they are doing a great job"

Cosmere Overtakes Avatar Legends To Become Biggest TTRPG Kickstarter Ever!

Definitely will hit $14 million, very pleased for them but I do wonder how many people will be playing it in 12 months time

Paizo Reverses Course, Re-Instates Community Use Policy

Yet another good example of Community action forcing companies to listen to their customers, who ultimately keep them in business.

RPG Crowdfunding News – Nimble, Rifts, SLA BORG, and more

Backed Nimble, for a solo indie creator it has been a very well run crowd funding campaign

Alchemy explicitly saying it's Free League who have changed their policies and asked them to remove them

What is a "Light" RPG? What is a "Crunchy" RPG?

I interpret Light as I can run the game without referring to the rulebook and usually has the same core mechanic throughout. Crunchy either has lots of situational modifiers and/or lots of mini-systems for different situations.

    ALIEN 2nd Edition Is Coming...

I'm guessing sales are down and they need to make some cash to pay for the licence, I sold my copy last year which seems like a timely choice.

D&D General Do You Use a DM Screen?

I dislike GM screens both as a GM and a player. If you need reference sheets lay them flat on the table. I like all rolls to be visible, players and GM.

    Space: 1999 Coming From Modiphius

If a success we might get UFO and Captain Scarlet RPGs, not a fan of 2d20 system but every company nowadays just shoehorns their standard ruleset into their latest IP (Modiphius and Free League have made it their business model).

    D&D General Planning a D&D editions tour

For that OD&D experience I would try Delving Deeper (or Iron Falcon), both are so close to the Original game. I have played DD several times and it such a different experience to B/X it is a ton of fun, it also shows how B/X moved it on.

    D&D (2024) 75 Feats -- not nearly enough

There's currently about 42 Feats in 2014 PHB which I think is more than enough, (we never use them in any of our games anyway) so they are adding another 33 in 2024. From what I believe they are no longer optional, so can't see us upgrading.

D&D 5E How do you handle randomly rolling for stats

We always use the standard array, early on we had occasions where a couple of players rolled really bad, so array has stuck.

Asmodee Owner To Split Into 3 Companies

This is going to have major ramifications for the gaming industry, can't see how they can survive this.

D&D General Has anyone ran a level-0 character funnel for 5e?

There are two products on Drive thru designed to run 5e funnels: Fifth Edition Funnel: DriveThruRPG The OSR Guide to Playing 5e: DriveThruRPG Both are PWYW, so have a look at them and you can always throw the authors some money later if you like either of them.

WotC WotC partners with Start Playing to connect players and DMs and form tables.

Looks like they are edging their bets in case their 3d VTT doesn't work. Other pointers to this are the development on their maps feature on DND Beyond, partnering with FoundryVTT, they are not putting all their eggs in one basket.

D&D General "I'm glad to be back playing D&D."

If your players love 5e (which my players also do) have you thought instead of trying The One Ring play Lord of the Rings 5e. It fixes a lot of the overpowered heroes with the familiar 5e gameplay. It is my favourite version of 5e to run (10 levels, no spellcasting, limited healing, changes to...

Spoilers True detective season 4 spoiler

I would put season 4 behind Season 2. A good build up with excellent actors. But the finale was a big disappointment about the explanation of the death of the researchers and lack of physical evidence at the scene of their disappearance and location of their death. I found the finale a huge...
