D&D 5E New Eberron Book Details From WotC

Planescape? Makes even less sense to use it for an Eberron campaign. But I know lots of people enjoy homebrewing all sorts of stuff so I hope they enjoy it.

D&D 5E New Eberron Book Details From WotC

I’m okay with multiple ways so long as my way is acknowledged as the default. Lol. MToF sounds like a Greyhawk book. Dunno why I’d use it in my Eberron game. But more power to you if you do! Grazz’t could totally be an Overlord in Eberron (perhaps he escaped being improsoned by fleeing to...

D&D 5E New Eberron Book Details From WotC

Well, like I said, that actually isn’t true according to any Eberron product I own. But you are right in that my game isn’t impacted by whatever you homebrew for your game.

TSR The Dueling Essays of Arneson & Gygax

Another way to look at it is that Gary Gygax tried to pull a Bob Kane. Even going so far as to rebrand D&D as AD&D to remove all credit (and stop all contractually required payments) from Dave Arneson. After all, Dave Arneson has never had an appearance on Futurama. Just like most people dont...

D&D 5E New Eberron Book Details From WotC

Not in my Eberron books they’re not. I’ve got 3 edition’s worth of them as well (well, PDF for one of the editions). But your of course welcome to do whatever you want in your Eberron.

D&D 5E New Eberron Book Details From WotC

Damn. I have pretty low expectations for 5e products, but this might just entice me to let my players decide if they prefer PF2e or 5e.

TSR The Origin of Monty Haul

Interesting article. For the thread topic: I bet if someone had have given Gary the 3e encounter guidelines pre-written and adapted for AD&D he would have taken them, made some arbitrary changes to make them slightly harder to understand and then thrown them into the DMG. There were clearly...

D&D 4E Where was 4e headed before it was canned?

I think 4e was a bit too sterile in it's approach. I think using a bit more natural language was inevitable. Something like this could have seen the game presented a bit more naturally without changing a single thing about how the rules actually worked.

    D&D 4E Stealing 5e movement for 4e : how hard?

I suppose you could do this: "Move (move action): You can move up to your maximum speed before the end of your turn. You can perform other actions during this movement." I suppose that would work. Personally I think 4th ed has too many elements baked into giving you mobility at the cost of...

D&D 4E Where was 4e headed before it was canned?

That really exemplifies the difference in 4e and Pathfinder. Pathfinder had great adventures. D&D 4e didn't. Unfortunately Mearles and Co got the wrong lesson from Pathfinder and destroyed 4e trying to chase the latest trends. Which do not get me wrong: 4e was a deeply flawed product IMO. But...

D&D 4E Where was 4e headed before it was canned?

If only WotC had written their adventures like that. LFR in particular was very much "4 combats and a skill challenge". There were often no stakes. Just fight your way through the combats to get to the end.

D&D 4E Where was 4e headed before it was canned?

I found 4e didn’t encourage improvisation. I found if you didn’t have a power you just didn’t try. Likewise I found Pathfinder didn’t encourage improvisation either. If you didn’t have a feat or class feature then you just didn’t try. 5e might have required more improvisation. But on,y because...

D&D 4E Where was 4e headed before it was canned?

We would have also seen Themes become standard and baked in. Pathfinder 2e can definitely be seen as a look into what Logan and Stephen Radney -MacFarland liked about 4e and what they might have kept or tweaked a 4.5. With 13th Age for ideas from Rob Heinsoo and Johnathon Tweet as to what they...

D&D 4E Where was 4e headed before it was canned?

To answer the original premise: I think D&D was moving towards a revision, but not in the style of Essentials. We had 1 more PHB (Elemental and Shadow Classes), 1 more DMG (Epic) and a MM or two. And then 4.5 would have come out. If they didn’t massively overact (as they did with Essentials)...

    D&D 4E Stealing 5e movement for 4e : how hard?

Long time no see Garthanos. I don’t think you can outright steal 5e movement. The action economy is too important in 4e, But what if you had three options of moving: Run (Standard): You move up to double your speed. Charge ( Standard): You move up to your speed and then make a melee basic...

I don’t u derstand what point you are trying to make.

D&D 5E Jeremy Crawford Discusses the Wild Soul Barbarian and Path of the Astral Self Monk

Weird often doesn’t sell very well, although I don’t know why they would worry about it now. How many years has it been and we’re only getting a new class now?

D&D 5E Jeremy Crawford Discusses the Wild Soul Barbarian and Path of the Astral Self Monk

I would normally agree (simply because I don’t think they have the drive in them), but I get skeptical when I hear “we have run out of ideas/material”

    D&D 5E Consequences of Failure

Hussar you might find this link valuable basically it says when you get to the end of resolving an action you aren’t just left with success or failure. You get an outcome and a consequence.
