New Class -- Historian (think Indiana Jones / Tomb Raider)

Ah, lol, wow, you had no idea what a Factotum was and you came up with a role-less class with much of the same fluff as a Factotum! The Factotum in 3.5 was an Intelligence based class who's job it was to do everything, albeit not perfectly. He was THE jack-of-all-trades. When one party member...

    D&D 4E Anyone make a Binder class for 4E?

How much gold does a character start with at 1st level? I could see the market costs being lowered a little bit myself.

New Class -- Historian (think Indiana Jones / Tomb Raider)

Reminds me of the Factotum. No role is listed and it does seem hard to peg. It's almost a combination defender leader, but with the ability to maneuver the field like a striker, and finally with its esoteric knowledge can play controller with some multiclassing. I assume this was precisely the...

    D&D 4E Anyone make a Binder class for 4E?

It is my opinion that the market price should remain untouched by any feats. Just because you're really focused on binding doesn't make the tomes that teach the specific methods and signs (etc) any cheaper. As long as market price remains set, the component cost can go all the way to 0gp as far...

    D&D 4E Anyone make a Binder class for 4E?

I think you've got it. Every Pact feat simply reduces the cost of all binding rituals by 20%.

    D&D 4E Anyone make a Binder class for 4E?

Have you read the Bind Vestige ritual? It's pretty much summarily explained within. If you want more information check out the Pact Magic section of the 3.5 book Tome of Magic. (The Bind Vestige ritual is something we are developing ourselves based on Tome of Magic's mechanics and is located on...

    D&D 4E Anyone make a Binder class for 4E?

What if instead of setting the cost in stone and then tying the reduction to feats, (really I think we have PLENTY of feats for a subsystem already) we tied the cost reduction to your diplomacy check? If you make a good pact the cost is cut by 1/3 or even 1/2. Then for every 5 points you beat...

    D&D 4E Anyone make a Binder class for 4E?

Alright, so what does everyone think about the GP costs? Seem okay to everyone? I really just wrote in what seemed to work, and I'm strangely comfortable with how the numbers look. Any concerns?

    Differentiating Races: Racial Classes

Dang! Lordkiwi beat me to it! I was very shortly going to begin work on racial multiclass only classes!

    D&D 4E Anyone make a Binder class for 4E?

I rather like Dog Moon's idea. Keeps things simple. Who likes to take 20% of something in the middle of a game? Are we satisfied with our rules at the moment?

    D&D 4E Anyone make a Binder class for 4E?

But then what's the mechanical difference between a Binder who's just a Binder and a player who's decided to focus all his attention toward the Binding ritual? Should the cost in GP be reduced/removed from the ritual?

    D&D 4E Anyone make a Binder class for 4E?

Well, the thing is, if you run the numbers it is profoundly easy to get the first two augments (with things as written) and characters who really focus can get a third about 60% of the time. I dunno. Just seems off to me. I really like those other two feats you've suggested though.

    D&D 4E Anyone make a Binder class for 4E?

Added a feat to allow binding of two vestiges. I don't think we should ever allow binding of more than two vestiges just seeing how the mechanics work out. I guess I probably won't be doing anything with the vestiges at this point just because I don't have my book in front of me (work...).

    The Mastermind, Martial Controller?

Thanks for the comments!! Phew, I thought I'd never get feedback! You bring up some compelling arguments. I'll go back through give everything a look over and check up on the Cleric's cause fear. There will be more powers that utilize improvised weapons in the class later. The deal is he's a...

    D&D 4E Anyone make a Binder class for 4E?

I've noticed there are few things on our little wiki that still need to be addressed. 1) How exactly should Pact Augments work? I've made a few changes and now it appears that you take the feat and get a free one, but you can always get one if your check is high enough? So, at max you could get...

    D&D 4E Anyone make a Binder class for 4E?

Memo, memo, who's got the memo? In other news, I'm going to get another vestige done. This time? Well... I'm not sure yet. But you can rest assured that after I eat my ravioli...

    D&D 4E Anyone make a Binder class for 4E?

Yeah, I've been assigning roles to the Vestiges as best as possible. There seem to be a lot of Defenders and a lot of Controllers with really not many Leaders. What we may end up having to do is scrap some of the vestiges and homebrew some. If it comes down to that I have SEVERAL that I have...

    D&D 4E Anyone make a Binder class for 4E?

4E's Recharge powers are the closest analog I can see to the "You must wait 5 rounds before you use this power again" mechanic of most of the Vestige powers in Tome of Magic. *rushes to read the grouped vestiges*

    D&D 4E Anyone make a Binder class for 4E?

Yes, I knew we were forgetting something. Was it Eldritch Lord that first suggested making the recharge an augmentation? Anyway, I agreed with it whenever it was first suggested I just don't think I ever posted my agreement. Does the recharge power seem out of place to anyone or does everyone...
